Terrible news - they are a well supported local team. Not one of the fake glory-seeking clubs that abound in their area. Hopefully something will be sorted. Never knew there was a hotel at their ground.

I think Bury and Bolton have both been given a final deadline of this Tuesday.

There's talk of more possible bids for Bury tonight, even though the deadline has passed. A very precarious position for both teams though. You've got to feel for the fans.

Remember that notlob Bolton bellend who came on HOL when DF moved there? On the final day of that season DF got a draw and we won to get 6th place, a play off vs the Brighton muppets and the next 6 years is history.

Sad news for all Football fans. Just shows how precarious dropping a division or two can be. I actually remember when they were in the Top flight under Fat Sam there Chairman at the time asking for No promotion or relegation from the EPL ...

Bolton Wanderers have 14 days to find a buyer and address their administration issue or they will be expelled from the English Football League - [Link]

A last minute lifeline for them

The EFL are not fit for purpose.
They were alerted to the goings on at Bury and Bolton numerous times and have not taken enough interest or couldn't be bothered??
This is the tip of an iceberg and when we all start thinking about other Clubs potentially in trouble quite a list can be made.

Really puts our recent ‘struggles’ in to perspective. Bolton and Bury are historic clubs and this should not be happening.

Can anyone explain to me what is actually wrong with the EFL and why this is happening on their watch? Surely there has to be an explanation?

There is something wrong with football in this country when the premier league has so much money it doesn’t know what to do with it, while the clubs lower down are struggling to keep afloat. Couldn’t the premier league have stepped in and helped here? For a club like Man City clearing Bury’s debt would have been not too much of a burden. When the clubs at the bottom fall away, the whole football pyramid collapses. One team relegated from league two this season is a joke. And what happens if Bolton go as well? Complete farce.

Very sad especially for the supporters there but for the grace ...

I haven't followed the story but normally when a deal can't be agreed one or more of the creditors is the stumbling block, they feel that they can get more money out of a dead club than by settling for a "haircut".

In this case fingers are being pointed at the owner so unless you can persuade him to accept a deal talk of premier league money saving the club is meaningless.

And maybe that is the owners intention I don't know Bury at all but could the administrators sale the land to a property developer for a tidy sum?

Wasn't it Doncaster Rovers? whose owner tried to run the club into the ground (stadium caught fire) so he could sell the land?

I hope they bounce back as Bury FC 2019

Gigg Lane cant be sold per se, the land was bequeathed to the club. IF the ground was to be sold then whoever bought it would HAVE to build them a new stadium.

True dat.
