Will Lokilo be? Does Lokilo have any numbers in the PL2, League One or League Two?

Nothing personal against Lokilo, would really like for him to make it.

But who should be Townsend backup this season out of the players who are left for free? Lokilo? Or a guy with great numbers at youth level who can come free and maybe....maybe....actually turn out to be at least as helpful as Bakary Sako?

What would be the logical thing for the club to do?

Schlupp has never-ever played as right wing though. He doesn'y know the specifics of thebposition, doesn't know how to dribble and cut inside. Macca has played with decent success, but the point was he is nothing like Townsend, is of the opposite foot, disrupts the entire tactics.

Meyer is also a right footed player, blessed with more talent. He has played as right wing in his youth but at this point and age he's more a technical player than a speedster and playing as right wing doesn't suit him. More like left wing, cutting inside.

Camarasa has 5 matches in his entire career as winger.

Why does Townsends 'backup' need to be an identical player in the sense of a left footed right winger?

Why couldn't you have a right sided winger on the right? What's the sense in being so one dimensional that every player is identical for that position.

I'd sooner bring someone off the bench who would add a different dimension to the play if somethings not working rather than go, Townsends having no joy cutting in on his left, let's see if identical man will do any better.

Because it's about tactics and passing routes that a manager does in training and the players have to know very well when coming on the pitch. They are accustomed to specific routes. Point is for the substitute inverted winger to be better in that particular moment when he is sent on, not to bring something totally different.

For the same reason why you have 2 right backs of the same right foot and not one right footed and one left footed.

Same for left backs.

Samenfor wingers. There are normally 2 right footed ones and 2 left footed ones (for each foot either inverted or classic)

Personally I'd like to see Townsend back on the left and Zaha (whilst he's still here) on the right, whatever they may think, and have them crossing the ball in to the striker(s), then we might actually see some goals from the front-runners. We've been experimenting with this 'inverted' winger nonsense for long enough, in my opinion, and I'd like to see us get back to trying tactics that I've actually seen work for us in the not too distant past.
