Predictable and "interesting" though this discussion might be what is the connection to "lefties"? Why should people with this situation necessarily be of the "left"? It is just an assumption that if you are on the "right" these kinds of things cannot happen to you, so they must be on the "left"? There might not be any direct connection but this is a cause which has been taken up most vehemently by those regarded as social justice warriors whose mindset is antithetical to people with a more traditional outlook.

The stated view is that the feeling of being distressed due to the mismatch between your birth sex and perception of your gender is a disorder. Not feeling aligned with a different sex in and of itself. As in many of these individuals may well seek one or more ways not to feel distressed about this situation, and if the result of that is that they are happier with their life then for all intents and purposes they no longer have a problem.

This is a very good thought provoking post compared to my shallow but honest and factual view. The problem that the guy in the video faces is his belief that he is having monthly 'periods' and directly comparing that to the currently impossible, e.g. that of a female period. Thank you kindly!

That’s a very fair summation. Body dysmorphia is part of the human condition to some degree - the cosmetics industry could be regarded as based on it to an extent but the definition could be extended to include the diet industry, gym culture/bodybuilding all the way to hair replacement treatment and maybe even fashion. Thanks. Yes, there is a female to male trans person in the extended family and I think it's dealt with in the typical British way, of nobody ever really mentioning it including them . But they are very much a respected and liked part of the family and I think that's how it should be. I can imagine dating would be tricky to say the least, but life is full of unusual couples, and I'm sure there's someone out there looking for Arthur formally Martha. Now time for me to swiftly exit before it inevitably turns into the usual pure politicisation, left and right, rather than the people. Same as every other thread on here! In their bid for equality, the radical left tell us that men and women are equal. So much so that they think that men can be women and women can be men. They are outraged if people question men competing in women's sport. All these ideas are pushed through by left-wing outlets such as Vice, Vox and Huffington Post. Political correctness is bullying. And they've bullied corporations into changing toilets to gender neutral and governments into making it offence to call someone by the wrong pronoun. “ze”, “ey”, “hir”, “xe”, “hen”, “ve”, “ne”, “per”, “thon”, “Mx” are some of the pronouns instead of "him" and "her". It's currently an offence in California - and possibly Canada - which could lead to prison. Another example of free speech being eroded by the state controlling our language, something the Nazis or Communists would be proud of. Edited by Penge Eagle (01 Aug 2019 12.16pm)

From a right wing opinion that might be true but it's disingenuous to make it the title when the subject is actually about trans people. Evidence of bias perhaps?

Is it not possible their mental illness stems from the fact they don’t feel at home in the own body? I don’t do a great deal about trans people, but it seems quite obvious that someone going through that sort of battle internally is going to have issues with mental health - by ‘not enabling them to chop their codgers off’ how are we helping that? A few months back a doctor on LBC stated this was a major problem as over 75% of full change trans regretted their decision within 15 years.
