i agree with you football is expensive, however that screenshot you posted, is that for the main stand. tickets in the AW or hol lower start at £30 for most games of £38 for cat a games. still expensive, but not the £48 in your pic. £30 is still £29 too much to sit in those crippling seats.

You could get a season ticket in your grandads name , oap prices , no one on the gates now days, as you scan your ticket. Although this is illegal and I would never condone it. I have had my season ticket checked before entry to the Whitehorse to make sure I’m not using someone’s junior ticket, alas at my age I could probably get away with using someone’s OAP ticket

Good luck trying to get an adult ticket in the Arthur Waite or Holmesdale for £30 £20 FOR A PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY!! I have utmost sympathy for the poster, as I have been in similar position. I suspect my son will not always use his ticket this season due to work (hurrah) commitments and discovering females. I am more than happy for you to use his ticket, if you wish (free of charge) I will pm you if this occurs

The club I love have became greedy. I know their will be smug people on here that have high earning jobs that will say "it's how much it costs to watch a premier league game these days" "stop moaning" etc etc. Well good for you for being able to afford it. It is no longer a working class game and is starting to attract more of the rich. I have a young family and this was the season I was really hoping to start getting my 5 year old daughter into football and take her down the Palace but even for a child its £25+ a ticket. What ever happened to twentys plenty? I used to enjoy going down Selhurst with mates and have memories of being a kid going with my old man. These were the days when the working man/woman could afford tickets for him and his family and a pint and a burger etc. I cant even afford a ticket anymore. I say this with a heavy heart, I wont be able to attend games at the club I love and will this season have to go and watch my local town (Bromley FC) in the conference league at £15 a ticket and that will sadly be the team my daughter grows up to watch. I will forever be a Palace fan but sadly my days of going to Palace have ended. I feel your pain mate, but your family,y should always come first.
always a Norwood boy, where ever I live. |

If any games come up when we have a free seat I will give you a shout and you can come along and be my guest. It will only cost you a beer at halftime. Football prices are disgusting, even more so when you consider how sh@t our home form is. When I started going to games in the late seventies I’m sure footie was the same price as going to the cinema. The working man is being out priced.

What's a club without its fans, and how is someone supposed to introduce their kids to the club in a meaningful way if they can't even afford to attend games? Then there's travel expenses heaped on and the like. Some have mentioned work arounds, but it shouldn't be something you have to resort to in my view. That's commercialisation on steroids for you and all that comes with it. The game seeks to empty the pockets of the working man, rather than cater to him.

There's no way I'd pay for tickets for my family every home game if we didn't have season tickets, the prices have suddenly gone ridiculous and 'crossed the line' I've been going to my local non-league club for the last year or so (when I can), and after half a dozen games or so, the regulars start to recognise you and have a chat. Before you know it you are totally accepted and welcomed, and made to feel really valued. Within half a season you are part of the furniture and considering doing a voluntary role there! I've had a season ticket and followed Palace home and away for 30+ years but could easily switch to following the non-league club 'full time' and not really miss Palace. The hassle of arriving super-early just to park nearby, getting good seats at away games, and just the sheer cost of everything, it's a turn off to be honest.

I think you are spot on. Everyone is making a fortune out of the Premier League, apart from the joint most important people (along with the players), the fans. Obviously the mega tv money should be used to subsidise ticket prices, that's a no-brainer, so loyal supporters can get a deal they are happy with. For instance CPFC could look at their computer records and say: 'Anyone who has been a season ticket holder for five consecutive years can continue for a nominal £10.00.' If not, then what's the point of being in the division? Unfortunately people are continuing to pay the crazy prices and as long as they do the club will happily take their money. It is only when the tv companies are broadcasting games from empty stadiums that anything will change. I have said for the last couple of years its time to boycott the whole premier league for 2 rounds of fixtures, home & away basically for one club. Leave the stadiums empty except for the tourists. Would soon make the TV companies think. Look at Spain, court case regarding Friday & Monday night games. It is the only way to keep youngsters coming through as real fans. not armchair fans. I know a lot of people who can't afford to go more than ponce or twice a season now. Should the players donate some of their wages to a fund to keep the ticket prices at £20? I think so
