Difference is their investment in the team. If they invest sums near the top bracket of teams then that is where they should be achieving, thereabouts.

I don't think under-investment has been a problem for our team, rather bad investment. We overpay on both transfer fees and wages for poor players, and almost never sell for a profit.

Agreed. As a small club you have to turn some players on for a profit. We’ve done it as we’ve run out of money rather than before, but also because Zaha has been such a presence.

Ideally you need a mix of different recruits and strategies. Ours has been Arsenal about face too much with mistakes corrected, managers fired, players not signed and gaps left in August but signed in January. After staying in the league by being the 8th highest payers etc with the 14th highest revenue we’ll now have to think and strategise more and more, even if that is living on beans until Roy can’t do it any longer and a new man comes in with half a chance of building a side with funds and resources.

I might actually enjoy backs to the wall stuff like when we were promoted if our crowd are up for it. Might be nice if Parish thanks us as well.

We just sold the best tackler in Europe and now the fourth-best dribbler wants to leave.

We also have two strikers who never score any goals.

Are we sure it can get much worse?

You should never say that really. Especially about Palace.

We sell Wilf and we'll no doubt over the odds or a replacement - who won't be as effective - in an already over inflated market. We'll struggle massively without Wilf. Throw in AWB departing the other month, Cabaye & RLC end of last season then I struggle to see where the talent is in our team / squad.

That said, the relegation door might well catch us out this season but if you're over 40 then that's not going to worry you . Plenty of good fixtures in the championship, cheaper and a lot easier to get tickets! Every cloud and all that ...

It's only football / a day out ... no biggie!

That day out is set to be a pretty awful one this season if nothing happens between now and the window shutting

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

The fact that we had these players to behind with suggests that it can, and has been, far far worse.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

We are currently worse than last season. There's no arguing with that.

reported a week ago we were due to be 'very active' this week & all we have to show so far is Ayew. Seems like we're waiting for someone to cough up for Wilf before we shell out further, but then it'll be too late I guess. Villa throwing cash about & we're going through the bins looking for fag butts

And Fulham did the same last year and look what happened.

Some people are like Slinkies … not really good for anything, but you can’t help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs.

With Tomkins and Sakho injured and Zaha and Kouyate unlikely to feature, our starting 11 for the first game is looking grim. If this is us been 'very active' I dread to think what's be going on up to this point lol

Why are Zaha ( if he's still at the club ) and Kouyate unlike to feature in our first game ?
