I don't suppose that it makes any difference whatsoever to our negotiating position. I doubt whether there is a club in England, if not Europe that isn't aware that we've sold our right back and they also know that we have had a big problem scoring goals

All clubs need or perhaps just want new players, that's why there's a transfer window. Coming out and saying we are in a desperate/crisis position is different however.

Could be that Roy is trying to put some pressure on those above and around him to make some signings. Could just be Roy being characteristically frank.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

It seldom hurts a manager to point out that they have weak/weakened resources.

If the doomsayers are right, and a season of serious trouble lies ahead, Roy is likely to take steps to protect his reputation. What manager with a career like his is going to want to be blamed for taking their boyhood club down as their final act?

It's hard to see the new season starting well, or the club being a happy camp, right now.

Tomkins and Sakho are the injured parties, with groin and cartlidge injuries respectively. And no expected return date given.

Are these the same injuries that kept them out of the last few games last season, or are they new injuries picked up in training.

Tomkins (groin) and Sakho (knee) have both had surgery relating to injuries sustained last season and neither currently have definite return dates. I don't know which other defender(s) Roy was referring to.

I believe that it was Tyrick Mitchell

On a positive note Kouyate has played centre half throughout the AFCON and they hardly conceded a goal.

My prediction is that he'll return from the tourney either knackered or injured; probably both.

He as been superb in the Afcon championships playing at centre back, I think this is his long term position, as mentioned Lewis Holtby on a free as cover in midfield leaves any available money on a right back and a striker

To be fair, Roy should have retired by now. He's too old for this.

he defo proved that last season right?

its not as easy as just signing new CB’s because 2 are currently injured.

we currently have dann & kelly as backup...you sign a new CB and hes only going to be 1st choice for a month or so, then when tomkins & sakho are fit again, this new sparkling CB sits on the bench on big money annoyed he isnt playing.

just doesnt make sense to throw big money after a short term solution, especially when we already have that in dann & kelly

I have another viewpoint on this 'quote'. Imagine in your business a senior member of staff, RH made a statement like that. What would the board do.
Sit back say nothing? I don't think so.
They would kick his arse or sack him.
This quote from Roy is false.
