Considering donkeys are now 20-30 mil, you decide whether 50 mil was good business. Edited by ASCPFC (05 Jul 2019 1.21pm) Edited by ASCPFC (05 Jul 2019 1.22pm) I know it's difficult to be optimistic at the moment but thinks aren't quite as bleak as you are seeing them. Firstly, Hungbo was released. We aren't losing him and if Watford see something in him that our coaches don't then good luck to them. With the exception of AWB we have only parted company with players that were no longer considered good enough. Regardless of what's going on behind the scenes re club ownership, the scouting of players continues and in theory we now have a bigger war chest to play with. It's not unusual not to have made any signings at this point. Bournemouth haven't signed anyone yet but may lose Ake if rumours are true. Watford have signed Craig Dawson ( spit ). Brighton have made their annual purchase from the Dutch / Belgian league. As for losing players to teams hardly any better than us - come on be realistic

There has been no signs of any incomings at the moment but that doesn't mean that there won't be any as Parish and Co always play their cards close to their chests

Anyone who is anti-Parish is an imbecile with no understanding of our history or the context of a small-medium sized club in today’s Premier League. Edited by Lombardos barber (05 Jul 2019 7.47pm)

Agreed, we knew the day was coming re Wilf and with no confirmed incomings it feels worse than it maybe is. As to pro or anti Parish, overall I am pro while far from agreeing with everything he does.

Promotion, six seasons in the Premier League and an FACup final from favourites for relegation to League One. Pretty decent by most standards. Seeing the likes of Cabaye in the shirt. Some fantastic memories. Definitely pro but not sure I’d be quite so much if I had to waddle through p1ss in the Arthur Waite or had been shifted from Block E after 25 years. Some things still feel very Mickey Mouse. I’d refute that he’s made mistake after mistake. That’s 2020 hindsight and we’d have been punished with relegation if that were the case.

Parish is doing what he does same mistake for another year running panic towards the end players that will be ones that other teams no longer want. So much for all the talk back in Jan that we had all these targets and Dougie was already working on it. Still only have 4 man scouting system and 2 of them are part timers not exclusive to Palace.

Parish is an excellent PR man whose evident skill amply explains how he ran a very successful PR company and made millions. He transferred these skills into his running of CPFC, where he's on a massive salary and has received at least one huge payday by roping in American investors. He is now pursuing another whilst employing a survival business model to keep palace in the premier league: meanwhile, the PR machine is in constant overdrive, bombarding fans with messages that put crap players and managers on a pedestal and keep us onside with false promises of new stadiums/stands: a smoke and mirrors trick that has worked twice. For those not blinded by the cheap timeshare salesman's patter, crap transfers, unsustainable wages, jobs for the boys, and no real ambition beyond just eeking out survival year on year see him for the out-of-his-depth chancer that he is. The take the money and run approach to flogging our best asset this summer is further cause of concern, as cynically I suspect he's ramping up his exit strategy of asset strip and flog to some oaf. He's like Ron Noades with charm.
