I appreciate that some fans think that the benefit to our finances is too good to ignore and or that this will somehow make us stronger on the pitch.

I don't agree. It's that simple.

The board is simply playing for time at best or our investors want to make a fast buck from this sale. Either way, this is a dangerous moment for the club and one that tells all Palace fans that we can forget about building a quality team that might actually compete in the top half under the current ownership.

Only player so far we've sold since being back in the Perm that we didn't want to sell, and got a world record fee!!

Can't complain about that.. That kinda money is big time important to a club our size.

Plus hopefully it'll help us attract many other top teenagers if Palace can show unlike say Chelsea or City, at Palace if you're good enough you have a route to Premiership football.

None of us will know until a couple seasons time when we can see how the money has been reinvested and what the profile of the club is then.

But seems pretty clear we've a fair few players we could have flipped for a profit if thats all the club was aiming for. We haven't so don't see how we can judge them on selling one for a world record fee.

We’re all gutted about AWB but I think his sale makes sense now given that:

He wants to go to Manure - for whatever reason. Personally I think he’s going a season too early and to the wrong club but I’m not in his shoes.

Thing is we turned down several bids but given the circumstances we had to let him go and at least have extracted top dollar for him.

And let’s be frank: we could do with the turnover. Call me naive but I think this will help fund some much-needed additions such as a striker.

I remember when we regularly had our pants pulled down by the big boys coz we had a chairman who would sell at the first chance and barely replace the player. Look what happened when Bolassie went.

I don’t think you’re ever going to agree that selling a £55 million right back is the right call when he also wants to go and we have serious issues at the other end of the pitch. Just how many clubs in the bottom half or out of the top 3 even, keep £55 million players, and right backs at that? Please, we may have missed which clubs do this.

It was reported that one of the issues Benitez had was the proposed transfer budget for the summer - £50m was mentioned. Not enough for Rafa apparently.

As for trusting Roy, the model is that he identifies the areas where we need players and then DF and Co, take over at that point - that is the bit that worries me !
