I heard we tried to sign him but he injured himself when he picked up the pen.

No!

Too old (30)
Always injured
Not enough goals 26 in 102 games at WHU

Are these enough reasons or can I give you more?

He is the definition of injury prone. Some people are unlucky with injury, he just can't help it.

Due to the rate at which he grew, his joints are such a way that when he runs/jumps etc he is incredibly prone to muscle, tendon and ligament damage. Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole, which is a shame as he would have been a great player.

Yeah my work meant I spent some time with the sports scientists at West Ham and they said there was literally nothing you could do to prevent his injuries. You couldn't strengthen the muscles around the injures to prevent it from happening or anything like that, it was simply a case of complete bad luck that he had a growth spurt in his teenage years at such a rate that it meant a long term weakness in his joints that led to high injury rates.

He is a big strong lad, perhaps he could help with the re-build of the old stand.

That made me chuckle Dave.

In reply to the OP, it's definite no from me, due to Andy Carroll's injury history.

A stockbroker urged me to buy a stock that would triple its value every year. I told him, at my age, I don't even buy green bananas!

Carroll would be like Benteke all over again. So nah.

Except I doubt that he would score 17 goals in his first season for us. Play 17 minutes, more like.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

That's actually progress. Normally the injury is just after the player has put the pen down and while the ink is drying.

Indeed, interestingly if you change the letters round in his name it reads: or Sloth which seems quite appropriate!
