Sakho perhaps but considering how long Benteke had been out of favour I reckon we got bent over on that one, strangely other clubs scream 'overpriced' when it comes to our top players though his goals secured our survival when he got 18, worth the fee alone! we couldnt forsee the de boer experiment/injurys i know i am in a minority but play to his strengths he will hit that next season. problem being, last 18 months whilst he has been injured, we have changed our style to playing without that big striker getting onto the end of crosses. like ive said previously, if we can recoup 15/20m and reinvest that in michi then thats sound business, but if he stays and we feed him, he will score goals. like (i think you) said earlier, if we can keep wilf & andros abd get then to cross early for him he will thrive, continue to cut in and slow down play he may aswell be sold.

Totally agree with brauny, play to his strengths and he will deliver, much as I like wilf and a Andros whip the crosses in rather than elaborate

So just 13 against PL teams from open play. That in a magical 3200 minutes played all season. Put grandma in for 3200 minutes and she'll score a couple too Edited by mattteo (05 Aug 2019 10.14pm)

regardless of how he performed in his first season he's been pants ever since, OK, Injuries aside, we may have changed our style slightly but for 30 Mill he should have enough tools in his bag to net more than he's managed given the opportunities he's seen in the past 2 seasons. Hoping Villa get all sentimental & take his mis-firing a*** back, throw us £50 more & we could get shot of Wickham too

I would bet my house that Benteke will score as many goals this season as he did last season

And if i remember correctly, he saved us in that game against Bolton considering he came off the bench with 20mins to go when we were 1-0 down and scored 2 to win it. My life is fine thank you. And actually I agree with you that Benteke's goals contributed greatly to us staying up his first season with us. And as a non native English speaker, I have no idea what a "melt" is so no offense taken. Originally posted by RyWa
