In Soho,in the late 60s early 70s...loads of stripper and naughty film dens.I was 14/15. Paid a fiver to get into a dirty film, went through the curtain which led us through to a back door, that led us onto a bombsite, thought we had got turned over. The bloke said to go across the bombsite through another door.Knocked on it and had to pay another fiver to get in. Turned out we had paid to see strippers who after their turn came to see the punters..we were kids, had two strippers came to us,tried to get us to buy them champagne ( Babycham most probably )..we shyte ourselves and legged it out. Done all our dosh and had to walk all he way back to Streatham....Strippers were shyte by the way. Never did get to see a X film then.

I think the main thrill was being underage. A Clockwork Orange , i saw in Tooting at sixteen, the Devils in Wimbledon and the Exorcist probably in Sutton. My first X film being ‘of age’ was Emmanuel somewhere off Leicester Square, having failed to get into ‘Let’s get laid’. Did you have the long mac with the pockets cut out?

Spent my 21st in a pub in Westminster where the strippers were a bit extreme. I’ve been to Amsterdam a few times and Bangkok but what those ladies got up to ... well, less said, etc.. A short while later the police raided it and there were reports of a number of MPs jumping out of windows to get away.

Back in the nineties when I went to NY on business this American lawyer always insisted on taking us to nudie bars. Concerned about my career I always tried to get out of it but he always wangled it and as he was the customer... Anyway he used to come to London as well. One day I walked into a meeting and he was sporting a black eye. Turned out he'd gone to Soho got ripped off and had a fight with the bouncer which as he was even shorter than me he lost. How embarrassing to turn up to a meeting at the largest bank in the world with a shiner. Of course he told my colleagues a different BS story. Afterwards my female boss said "I bet he got that black eye in one of those girlie bars" she knew him too well.

The Dirty Dozen , The Regal in Beckenham in late 1967 when I was 14 years old. My friends and I lit cigarettes before approaching the box office believing that this would convince the person serving us that we were 18 years old. We got in without questions being asked and for a while I happily believed that I looked 4 years older than I was.

I remember one lunchtime a stripper removed a pair of spectacles from a civil servant-type gent at the front and I'll leave it to your imagination what she did with them.

The glasses routine must’ve been a favourite - it happened when I was there too.
