Well, yeah, but good luck with that. There are Middle Eastern team, Chinese and MLS team lining up with 300k a week salaries for them

Reports this morning talking about us possibly being interested in Allan Saint Maximin [Link]

I knew nothing about him but looking on YouTube he certainly looks like a Palace winger in the making; bags of tricks, very quick but with room to develop in terms of end product...heck, even his hair fits in with the Wilf/Sako/Batshuayi school of hairdressing. This is the first player I've seen who excites me and who could possibly step in if Wilf leaves (can't see him signing for us unless Wilf or Andros left), albeit this is probably just made up.

Here's a YouTube video with some Wilf-esque skills on show...

Saint Maximin is a young winger, very strong and fast, but comes from a team which has scored about 26 goals in 38 matches the past season, Nice. So I don't think he really has a mentality to score and create a lot of goals. Then again, he was involved in 9 of his team's goals.

But if that report above is true and they are asking for 30 million on a player with 1 more year of contract, then I'd pass on ASM

The sort of player that would have Palace fans on the edge of their seats, so it’s a yes from me.

Who? Saint Maximin? You can't just judge it like that. Of course he's a good player. So are hundreds. You have to take into consideration the price and the price-quality balance.

.........plus he wasn't on you're list in your opening monologue? So best ignored of course.

"One problem would be that he only has 1 position: right midfielder or right winger"

Isn't that two positions?

we don't need a like-for-like replacement for Zaha. Players of his ilk are rare and we need to look at what the team needs and recruit accordingly. It may mean we change our shape on what is best for Palace, not building a team around a Zaha-like player that we don't have.

Cause he's not NEARLY anywhere close to the players I have on the list who are Zaha level.

ASM is a young atracker, with prospects for developing. Or he may end up like Mpenza from Huddersfield, they're pretty similar. If you know who that is.

I have to disagree with you there. Football is all about entertainment and he appears, on the face of it at least, a Palace style of player being a quick, skilful winger/midfielder. Yes, you have to take into account cost but if we are looking at the sort of player who could slot into Wilfs position as, when and if he goes then this is the sort of player we should be looking at. There may well be others but there are no guarantees with any of them. At some point we will have to take a leap of faith and in my opinion that should be done before any of our top players leave so availability will come into the equation as well as cost.
