Yet again our lily livered politicians lack the balls to say that Christians were targeted, stating only that 'Easter Worshippers'& "Hotel Guests' were targeted.

Something happens in your street you want to know about it if it's a thousand miles away it's no less important but we don't have the time to mourn every loss or tragedy around the world and the papers reflect that. In this case I do have an interest because a friends son is shortly going on a school trip to Sri Lanka so I wonder what he's parents are thinking this morning and whether the school will cancel the trip. Anyway my thought are with the families of the bereaved. Not all school kids are with the Extinction Rebellion then.

If he read the full article he'd find plenty mentions of 'muslim', 'Christian' and 'terrorism' if that's what he's looking for. Could it just be that at this time after each of the seperate attacks that a different amount of information is known about the perpetrators. From the various sources I've read that seems to be the case. At present they believe it could be National Thowheed Jamath but this is not 100% and they do not know therefore for certain what international links they may have. Of course we all know who it could be but until then why print otherwise. For me the way major news media have been reporting on this it's been a commendable return to printing of the facts and away from hyperbole all the way from the daily mail to the guardian. Long may it last...but I have my doubts.

And we call that redundant crowd of spongers and wasters at Westminster our "Leaders" ? They couldn't lead the dog around a couple of trees in the park.

Perhaps this is more about international Jihadists looking for a soft option. Unfortunately the Christian minority in Sri Lanka has few friends.

Edited by Stirlingsays (22 Apr 2019 11.32pm) Well maybe we just view things differently. For me I didn't notice the non-use of 'Christians' as I was relating that to the mention of easter and churches. The same way if I read something about Eid and Mosques I wouldn't require confirmation of the religion in question. In regards to the tweet and twitter in general I can't help but find it a pretty useless source of information with its soundbite style. Which is why I neither have it or use it. This tweet states 'leaders' then only uses one quote from a current leader and who knows how much longer she'll be leading. Those leaders in turn may have made a variety of other quotes/tweets that the poster did not use as it didn't meet with their own thoughts. It assumes people view those people as leaders. I could go on but I won't. PS I don't like twitter Maybe the responses of Donald Trump and Jacinda Arden would have interested me more.

You are interpreting these tweets very innocently from their perspective but fair enough. You seem like a nice chap and it's all rather a depressive subject. I want Donald Trump and Jacinda Arden to reproduce......It would produce the most conflicted child in the universe. Edited by Stirlingsays (23 Apr 2019 12.45am)

Does anybody else on here think the prognosis for the next 5 or 10 years looks dire ? Or do you think....keep calm and carry on ? Things will get better of their own accord.
What sort of territory does that take us to ? Are we living in scary times the like of which cannot be masked by reality tv programmes or football commentary ? It feels like 1913 or 1938 all over again. I want to buy a cabin up the hills in the outer Hebrides.
