Adults wearing them in public is a bit weird I agree. Shocking. You deprived a poor home grown fan a ticket and then had the gall to treat it as a tourist's day out. I find adults wearing football shirts weird tbf so maybe my views are a bit extreme.

I remember decades before these half n half monstrosities they tried to sell twinned with hats n scarves. half n half is ok if its a souvenier, in the unlikely event we play European football but other English clubs is a total no. A brighton/palace half n half, good lord.

Morning all, Im a season ticket holder in the Arthur Wait, Block X and have been for the last 16 seasons. Dont get me wrong, I have noticed it before at certain games, but never to this extent, I genuinely counted over 60 half and half scarfs before kick off. When i witness days like Sunday, it makes me realise that I'd hate to be like City, United, Chelsea etc where actual fans are battling to get tickets with tourists. It genuinely made me want to look into moving to the Holmesdale to move away from areas where these tourists get tickets. I anticipate I may get some stick from all the PC people, but who really gives a toss. I'm rather PC but I dont understand why you'd think we'd give you stick. I personally want to slap (gently...) anyone wearing a half and half scarf.

Couldn't disagree more Middy. Half and Half scarves represent all that is wrong with modern football. It's total commercialisation, the win win universal sale. Football isn't just a sport, that's what separates it from the other "nobody really cares about the result" sports like rugby and football. It transcends that. This is what Rugby fans that ignorantly harp about differences in fan behaviour don't get. You cannot replicate the thrill of a 40 yard top corner banger in the 89th minute to beat your bitter rivals, supporting, nay loving your team and embracing the unbridled child like joy that has been handed down often from father to child. It's community. It's family. Even the glory hunter once they chose their team sticks with it for the passion. I could be the other side of the world and if I meet a palace fan I've got a bond, a connection. Even if it's Maple tree. You just don't get this with other sports. The half and half scarf seeks to sterilise this. The half and half scarf makes it ok to cheer two teams, to be a spectator like it's a f***ing theatre show. It's not. It's audience participation, you are the 12th Man!!! f*** the half and half scarf. Anyone who owns one should hang themselves with it to make up for the shame they have brought on their household and club they supposedly love. Does it though? I always viewed the half-and-half scarf as a piece of memorabilia tied to a specific match. I.e. 'I was at Palace vs City', rather than 'I support Palace and City'. They look a bit naff but I don't think they're a statement of neutrality, except for maybe the tourists but even then they're probably there to be entertained by City more than us.

Nah, a ticket/programme proves attendance and acts as memorabilia. The half and half scarf is football poison, simple as that.

ST holders pay more per game than away fans. This should at a minimum come with a guarantee that away fans will not get into home areas. Pointing out away fans who celebrate in home areas to stewards is to be encouraged. Can't do much about tourists unless they visibly support away team. As for picnic Aussies with beers, feck 'em and tell stewards, they're basically taking the piss out of home fans who don;t bring their own beer.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

For all we know it could’ve been Carl Veart and Nicky Rizzo sharing a few tinnies with Kevin Muscat bought along too in case things got tasty. The Chinese ‘tourists’ were actually Fan Zihyi and Sun Jihai, who is perfectly entitled to a half and half scarf of these teams. And maybe even a testimonial.

No tourists in Block B and thank god for it. It's demoralising being around these intruders. I've always loved the Arthur (it's the most "proper football" stand in SP) but it being filled with tourists and away fans who don't give a f*** is gross. When the Palace score a goal, you want everyone around you to be going as nutty as you are, not getting the iPads out or looking weirdly at you for singing and swearing Edited by iheartcpfc (18 Apr 2019 11.23am)
