I was there aged 14 with my Dad a lifelong Palace. I remember the pitch invasion and the Players in the Directors box throwing items of kit into the crowd. John Jackson was my boyhood hero

I remember it well. The sun was shining and the win ended a perfect day. I was at the Whitehorse Lane end. At one point an old geezer with a walking stick got on the pitch was led off by the police to shouts of hooligan from the crowd. A great day!!

Was there as a spotty 13yo & a mate in the Whitehorse end, got separated, joined in the pitch invasion & still managed to keep my scarf tied around my wrist.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Yes, I remember posting somewhere on this site (can't recall the thread) many years ago about that incident. Mark Lazarus had scored the third and winning goal, took off on his famous celebratory run along the Park Road side of the pitch, and like someone out of a parable in the Bible, an ancient guy with a stick climbed over the fence on to the pitch. As my pal said to me, he'd been awaiting that moment all his long life.

Yep, I was there, age 14 at the time. I remember the ball being hoofed high into the Old Stand. It hit the roof, dislodged a tile, which fell on someone’s head in the enclosure. The St. John’s people stretchered them away. I never did find out what happened to them.

I was 9 & still living in Mitcham at the time, Dad was out of work so didnt get to go, later that year we moved to Addiscombe so I could walk to games so long as I had ticket money - my first taste of glory was the cup run in 76 & then of course against Burnley in 79, the rest as they say is history.
