AWB top tackler in Europe by some margin, best defensive right back in Europe by a country mile. Similar to Wilf England will lose him to big noses top 6 only ideology. Looking at Hodgeson at then looking at Southgate I can see why conk face got the job.

He’s played out of his skin for most part of the season which I would of thought would merit him a call up I have to admit, I think he’s miles off international quality, particularly with the attackers/forwards we have coming through.

his distribution still needs a season and a half of work. if i were Southgate, I'd pick him so that he can't go elsewhere. bizarre not to.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

There’s a consensus that TAA and Trippier offer more as attacking players and that bit of AWBs game is behind the other two (ironic for a converted winger). For games where England dominate the ball they are better outlets. That said, when we face top class opposition at WC/Euro knockouts I’d rather depend on AWBs positional play and tackling. That said, if you don’t blood him against the lesser teams cos he doesn’t attack as well then he’ll never play as he won’t have any “international experience”

Not sure why you’ve decided to involve yourself, but sure; I think Trippier has had an awful season; that, combined with the fact that he is coming back from injury, mean I think it’s a ridiculous decision to select him over Wan-Bissaka. Hear hear.

I actively hope that he plays for Congo. What is the point in being the best English right-back and not getting selected? Just like Wilf, simply because he is not at a fashionable side. Notice when Wilf was at Man U and not playing, he still got closer to England selection. England must worry about sponsors, advertising and shirt-sales - otherwise they would simply select the best players regardless of club. One would have thought the FA has enough money as it is but I guess they have a greed that cannot be satiated no matter what. Edited by ASCPFC (13 Mar 2019 4.56pm) Excellent post.

In addition, AWB doesn't take set pieces. Trippier and Trent Alexander Arnold are both likely to be the designated corner taker. Which is a key pert of Southgate's tactics. To be an England full back, getting forward and putting in good crosses is more important than defensive qualities. At the moment AWB is not quite good enough in that area

His turn will come once he has developed more!

A lot of nonsense on here about you need to be this or that to play for England, let him develop etc. No. Representng your country simply boils down to form and merit. He is the best right back in the division this season and top tackler in Europe. He's put City, united, Chelsea and Liverpool players in his pocket. It is an unjustifiable disgrace that he's been overlooked. If you're good enough, you're old enough. What better way to develop then being tested at the very highest level?

I'm not sure why everyone is so keen for him to play for England right now or why people are getting their knickers in a twist about him not being picked. I want him fit for Palace games right now and he was unlikely to be picked for a qualifier when he has never even played in a friendly at senior level.
