Our home form as we all know is dire, like has been said on here we need to start the game at home on a very high tempo and press teams in the first 20 mins. This should unsettle any pre-laid plans they had to park the bus, hurts me to say but Brighton had us well under control and we paid the price. Nobody is going to tell me man for man Brighton lineup was stronger than ours, we have the squad to do it and IMO should start at home with Max in the side.

So what is going wrong at Selhurst ? Today we should have destroyed a team as bad as Huddersfield. And previous home games ? recently ? say no more. Our fans are brilliant, our Stadium is a cauldron, good players, good manager. So, what to improve ? Personal thoughts : - the away fans need moving back to their old position. what else ? how do we improve our home form ?

This post has been merged from a topic called 'How to improve our Home Form ? ' by bexleydave Our home form has been poor ever since we were promoted apart from a couple of brief runs under Pardew and Pulis. Sack Roy is a stupid thing to suggest in my opinion. Originally posted by Maine Eagle

This post has been merged from a topic called 'How to improve our Home Form ? ' by bexleydave Our biggest issue with our home form is simply that our midfielders are not good enough for the type of game you need to play at home. We do well away as teams tend to attack us and we are great on the counter, we get the ball up the pitch to Wilf and Townsend quickly and they can hurt any team. Luka aside, I don't think with Schlupp, McArthur and Kouyate we have players that can hold onto the ball, dictate the tempo and play a killer pass. We simply haven't seen enough of Meyer yet to know if he can control a game or impact it over 90 minutes. We desperately miss the likes of Cabaye and RLC who were comfortable on the ball, had composure and could move the ball forward, linking play. I think Roy had the right idea yesterday by playing Meyer at home as he is naturally the right kind of player for a game where we have to take it to the opposition. He just has to prove himself now. I also think that Luka a lot better going forward than he is given credit for and at home it would be worth having Kouyate as the holding player and allow Luka to drift slightly further forward than he currently does.

Roy takes the view, perhaps with some validity, that the first goal is key in the eventual result of games.

Cannot agree Luka and Kouyate are lightweight but we miss a strong ball player like RLC Originally posted by ripleyeagle

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Wrong colour home kit' by bexleydave I am sure that one of the reasons our away form is better is that the away colours are so much clearer. I sit very close to the pitch and to me the home kit blends too well with the crowd and it may well be the same for the players. The Huddersfield kit was so bright there looked to be more than eleven of them, unless I was counting some of the stewards. However Huddersfield did seem to string passes together better than us. Any thoughts?
