VAR is a 'must have' IMHO. There will be mistakes and it is annoying but when you see teams being relegated because of wrong refereeing decisions. If the cricket DRS is anything to go by, which is really foolproof after a few years development. Refs should welcome it, it will just become part of the game.
I really do not believe that after a 38 or 46 game season, teams can blame their relegation on decisions which haven't quite gone their way.Managers would be mocked if they used this as an excuse for their fate. VAR will not be a panacea as there will be subjective decisions which will be made and as such there will still be debates about some of the decision making.

Palace will not go down and do you know why? We rarely get tonked a la Cardiff last night and when you look at the teams that get relegated they concede the most goals. We may not score loads but we keep things tight.

We were newly promoted thus had a shoestring squad. We had a strong and stable cb pairing of one size and solado (?). Our defence had looked good and we were finally getting some points on the board. 0-2 up at the hawthorns and cruising to victory. Ref sent solado off for a foul on the half way line where player heading for the corner and defensive cover. Genuinely difficult to think of a less persuasive case for a professional foul. We ended up losing 32 and form dipped having to break up the stable back 4. 3 .Atcham ban. West brom stayed up we were relegated by 1 point!

Talking of dodgy refereeing: Burnley just scored from a corner that definitely wasn’t a corner...

Glad we could help you guys last night ! Yes had some luck along the way (again some might say ) but didn't expect 5 goals based on recent performances. And yes VAR will help although on occasions there does seem to be some issues with time and decisions still debated but nothing is perfect .

We don’t seem able to string together momentum this season. We haven’t really been in it at any point but we can’t seem to capitalise on other teams failures or turn 2 wins in to 3 and push away. Today is a big opportunity for us. Even a draw would help, but a win and we can seriously think about looking up. Edited by coulsdoneagle (23 Feb 2019 2.31pm)

We have not really been in the brown stuff all season but haven’t pulled away enough to not contemplate being dragged in it. A win followed by a Saints loss and we’re pretty clear. A draw is ok for an away game. A loss isn’t disastrous considering Cardiff’s result (and the fact Saints play Arsenal) but again it would just be typical of our ‘meh’ season. Last year we had that dreadful start which meant the rest of the season seemed hugely positive. This year, the points are spread more evenly. Why couldn’t we have capitalised on our end of season form?? Oh yeh, because we are Palace.
