ITS NOT BREXIT.

Why did it close?

The airline was heavily loss-making, and no-one was prepared to put in extra funding. The average passenger load per flight was just 18, meaning even the small regional jet planes flown by Flybmi were less than half-full, The typical Ryanair departure has 10 times as many passengers.

An average of 18 passengers per flight, spin that to blame brexit.

I believe flybmi was a spin-off from Midlands when it was taken over, basically the bits that the new owners didn't want. Apparently Ryanair flies more planes in a day and half then they did in a year.

I think this was more about being too small and not having attractive routes.

It was about what they said it was about, brexit.

Of course it was Brexit, everything bad that ever happened is because of Brexit. Even 9/11 was Brexit in retrospect. You were lied to if you think differently.

You can't just come on here with your reason and logic backed up by a source (a remainer rag, superb!) and say things I don't like. RACIST!!!!

From the company itself:-

The company, which employs 376 staff and operates more than 600 scheduled flights a week, announced that it had gone into administration. Earlier reports had suggested it was looking for further funding, but the company said the challenges created by Brexit had proved “insurmountable”.

A spokesperson for Flybmi said: “It is with a heavy heart that we have made this unavoidable announcement. The airline has faced several difficulties, including recent spikes in fuel and carbon costs, the latter arising from the EU’s recent decision to exclude UK airlines from full participation in the Emissions Trading Scheme. These issues have undermined efforts to move the airline into profit.

No EU food parcels for you hopefully....

Go to Companies House and have a look at their accounts under their full name of British Midland Regional Ltd and you will see that they have been losing money for the last five years and it seems that their parent company was no longer willing to support them financially.

As a business owner, yes.

Meaningless. What sort of business. Clearly not a significant one as you’d not be running it with that sort of dross peddling.

I’m not saying I disagree that a lot of companies will use brexit as an excuse, and this might well be one instance but to state that it will have no, none, zero affect on any business in the UK, at all, is just total bollocks. Zero credibility.

Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons.

On a non political related note.
When I used to travel a lot around UK and Ireland - many years ago - l always flew BMI rather than BA as they served a proper breakfast AM and afternoon tea PM complete withe scone, jam and cream. Those were the days!

“Current trading and future prospects have also been seriously affected by the uncertainty created by the Brexit process, which has led to our inability to secure valuable flying contracts in Europe and lack of confidence around bmi’s ability to continue flying between destinations in Europe.”

Keep on crossing them and I will keep tapping them in.....
