You are probably overlooking the fact that there probably weren't that many Black people around back then and yet one of them raped his friend.
That obviously didn't help discourage any stereotyping he might have had in his maid at the time.

Also, the context of the conversation was of his remorse for being misguided at that time.
He could have chosen his language a bit more carefully but his biggest crime, in my opinion, was to think that you can speak openly in 2019 without being accused of all sorts.
He should have know better than to open his gob.

No you didn't. The comment was it can't be an excuse to claim to have friends of other colours, it doesn't mean automatically you aren't biased. On that basis it doesn't matter what the answer is to your question.

It's perfectly ordinary banter, Squiffy. Bally Jerry, pranged his kite right in the how's-your-father; hairy blighter, dicky-birded, feathered back on his sammy, took a waspy, flipped over on his Betty Harpers and caught his can in the Bertie.

Unless you're in that exact frame of mind as he was at the time, you can't judge IMO. On the surface, it seems like a horrible, racist, thought, but it's come from a place of extreme anger and mental trauma.

Had he gone through with said act or said he has had these thoughts with a clear mind, then that's different.

I say this as a black man with a friend who's sister was raped by a black man. My friend dealt with it by isolating that evil act to the perpetrator, whereas his brother now has a brewing, underlying hatred of black men that he doesn't know/trust.

Was your friend's family old school Caribbean?
