You are probably overlooking the fact that there probably weren't that many Black people around back then and yet one of them raped his friend.
That obviously didn't help discourage any stereotyping he might have had in his maid at the time.

Also, the context of the conversation was of his remorse for being misguided at that time.
He could have chosen his language a bit more carefully but his biggest crime, in my opinion, was to think that you can speak openly in 2019 without being accused of all sorts.
He should have know better than to open his gob.

I did read that he raised this in order to highlight his previous racist attitudes, perhaps to try to atone but I don't know.

I am more interested in what he was doing with his maid, but I see you have now changed that bit.

Still not getting your banter old man.

It's perfectly ordinary banter, Squiffy. Bally Jerry, pranged his kite right in the how's-your-father; hairy blighter, dicky-birded, feathered back on his sammy, took a waspy, flipped over on his Betty Harpers and caught his can in the Bertie.

No you didn't. The comment was it can't be an excuse to claim to have friends of other colours, it doesn't mean automatically you aren't biased. On that basis it doesn't matter what the answer is to your question.

Probably 10, I keep meaning to have a crack but I haven't got around to it.

It doesn't mean you are biased either.....It's a purely cynical comment that means little either way.

People who put store by that comment are dim and frankly you are prepared to ignore that to defend it.

Is that all you've got Mr offended on behalf of others?

Unless you're in that exact frame of mind as he was at the time, you can't judge IMO. On the surface, it seems like a horrible, racist, thought, but it's come from a place of extreme anger and mental trauma.

Had he gone through with said act or said he has had these thoughts with a clear mind, then that's different.

I say this as a black man with a friend who's sister was raped by a black man. My friend dealt with it by isolating that evil act to the perpetrator, whereas his brother now has a brewing, underlying hatred of black men that he doesn't know/trust.

Firstly Neesons friend being raped is an appalling act.

Neeson asked the lady what colour was the man who done this, she said he was black.

If he was white do you think Neeson would be walking the streets with a Cosh hoping to kill a white man?

I don't think he would.

A woman being raped by any man regardless of colour is unforgivable.

I don't think I'm over reacting.

I totally agree with you black eagle, that rape is appalling act and no woman should ever suffer the horrendous act. But come on Do you honestly think that Neeson was worried what colour the person was at the time. I think he would have acted exactly the same way if the person who raped his friend was white, black, green or blue.

Brilliant response. Storm-in-teacup response from the tabloids for an actor who has lost both his wife and nephew in tragic circumstances and who has commented about a 'loved friend' having been raped. Whose head wouldn't be turned fleetingly with rage after all of that?

Thanks, my posts very rarely draw praise lol

if you look at all the organised gang raping of young girls, it was not Black men doing it.

It was one nationality that won most of the plaudits.

and is it racist to point this out ?
