Whether this is a paper or online format is irrelevant. I appreciate that I'm massively in the minority given the culture of gambling in the country. Out of all my friends and family, only me and my Dad don't gamble and I find that obscene. Here's a challenge to open your eyes: every stake you lay, put the equivalent amount in a draw, and your winnings in another draw. After a year has passed, open the draws and count the money, see which pile is higher. Edited by ChrisGC (06 Feb 2019 10.56am) I agree, if you’re one of the 97%, or 96% it might be according to Betfair Exchange, but I and possibly some are not, so that money in the draw will be worth 4% less instead of 20% more, after just one month, and keep multiplying. But thanks for the financial advice. Edited by Rudi Hedman (06 Feb 2019 11.04am)

I only bet if I go racing, but quite understand people enjoying a regular punt, because they enjoy it as much as anything.

I’m aiming for 20% growth of my money per month, and do. Therefore you’ll say it’s even more tripe, which I can live with when withdrawing my profits. You’re talking out of your rectum and out to irritate people after HOL joining weeks ago. Edited by Rudi Hedman (06 Feb 2019 12.21pm)

I only bet if I go racing, but quite understand people enjoying a regular punt, because they enjoy it as much as anything. You shouldn’t bet if you’re losing big sums or any amount you can’t afford. But the bookies SHOULD have some responsibility here too. When the fun stops, stop. Or in the bookies case, when the fun for the punter stops, send them loads of free bets to keep the addiction and desperation going, increase their limits if they’re at VIP level due to their losses, maybe even send them on a free trip to a major sporting event in Europe or America. The industry is in serious need of regulation from top to bottom and FOBT stake limits only touch the surface. They claimed it would take 18 months to limit the stakes on the machines which is complete rubbish, as has been proved with the legislation to do it sooner. They could do it instantly. It’s a machine, not the EU. They might need time to use up the annual lease at individual shops but that’s it, but then these are betting shops, right? Or were 3 of the 4 on the traffic lights at Thornton Heath ponds the last time I passed there because they could have 4 FOBT’s in and operate as casinos with electronically guaranteed profits for the bookies and no responsibility when people are withdrawing more and more and more on the card they need to live on.

I only bet if I go racing, but quite understand people enjoying a regular punt, because they enjoy it as much as anything. Not family. I meet my mates on a friday after work, nothing massive, in the pub by 5, home by half seven to put the kids to bed: out of around ten of us I'm the only one who doesn't even have a flutter and all you ever hear about are the winners. I've got mates who are top trades men, gang master brickies, chippies with bloke's on, that sort of thing, clearing 250-300 notes a day easily through their own hard graft and they must piss half their wages away on casual betting, all with the same attitudes espoused on here, all got a system, all evening out in the end, all boasting about the wins blah blah blah. All f***ing potless by pay day, working their weekends on cash jobs for pocket money. Now I appreciate that these are grown blokes who only have themselves to blame, but the culture of gambling is f*cking our society. The fact that you're all smart enough to see that the cards are stacked in the house's favour and that the bookies aren't playing a fair game: shutting down winning accounts etc, yet your solution is to pay tipsters, or other illogical 'solutions' to keep playing a corrupt game is mind boggling, and shows there's a problem. Surely the only logical answer is to pack it in? Edited by ChrisGC (06 Feb 2019 12.42pm)

Yeah, good for you. Take multiple screen shots then and post them. Prove me wrong. I don’t need to prove someone wrong clearly knows zilch on the subject. What you think is of no consequence or relevance. Maintaining this is more important than proving you wrong. It would take too long even if I wanted to.

There you go, point proven. No need to. I’ll tell you what I’ll do. I’ll call Betfair Exchange and tell them they’re wrong that there’s 4% of winners and people making good returns on their money because Chris from Wantsge said so. Hopefully all bookies won’t restrict and lift all my restrictions so I can BOG back and no stake limits. Win win.
