It all comes down to the money. I think we stay up with or without him but if we have spunked silly money on wages, then he needs to bang loads of goals in.

Aside from that, I wonder if Roy has prioritised a striker and that's why he was down on Wickham at the weekend. A message to the board.

If Bentenke can get fit then a Belgian duo up top could be interesting. I'm not sure Christian will want to be known as Robin, but I think they could work together as Batshuayi is more of a poacher. Remember Roy was playing 442 most of the time until Bentenke got injured.

Ok - my view - Wickham is miles away from being fit enough to play regular first team football. Benteke's no longer reliable. You don't select players to protect value because in their cases it's rapidly diminished in any case.

Our problem this season has been scoring goals. Especially given the number of chances created. We are in a relegation battle and need to find someone to start converting for us. If Michy delivers and scores the goals that keep us up and it increases his value when Chelsea come to sell then I see that as a win-win.

I think Wickham will go out on loan now to prove his fitness

I like Wickham and I think he provided glimpses against Liverpool of what he is capable of. I agree he should go on loan if only to pick up match fitness over a sustained period. He is good enough to play Prem football but 10 minutes here and there is not going to cut it. The same goes for Benteke however we do need 3 fit strikers ready to play. Would a loan move have to be abroad then? I can't remember how the rules for loans work outside the window.

Wickham will be fine, but it will take virtually the rest of the season to get fully back on track.
Meanwhile we have done a terrific bit of business getting Michy in,a player we almost signed a couple of years ago, before Chelsea came in with more money and nicked him.

MB has made 24 appearances for Valencia this season (many as sub).

He has scored 3 goals.

One in the league, (against bottom 3 club Celta de Vigo) one in the cup (against second tier opposition) and one in Europe (versus Young Boys).

Stick him straight in the team and see what he can do. Can't be worse than Ayew and is fitter than Benteke and Wickham.

Let's hope Roy was actually asked if he wanted this one... Will be pissed if he spends the rest of the season on the bench.

There are risks with all new players but I think this is one worth taking. If he can help us (avoid relegation and) climb one or two places in the final league table then the £2.5 - £3 million we are paying him and Chelsea will be worth it.

If Benteke and Wickham are still weeks away from playing 90 minutes then it had to happen.

I don't know that much about him but his career stats are very impressive.

If he starts scoring happy to have as much Batman stuff as people can type, meanwhile please restrain.
The whole Meyer of London crap didn't work too well

Disappointingly I think its probably too soon for Bats tomorrow, considering hes was still reported to be in Spain yesterday. Wouldnt be Roys style either to throw him straight in.
