IFAB will be discussing some possible changes at their March meeting and if agreed will come into force next season.
One of them is that goalkeepers need to have at least 1 foot on the line at penalty kicks.I appreciate there is a degree of elasticity exercised at the present time. There was talk of abolishing being able to score from a rebound at a penalty but I need to confirm if this is also up for discussion.

Christ, I've been meaning to start a thread about this for ages.
Willian, Aguero and the king of staggered run ups Mahrez, it's becoming a bigger and bigger problem and I havn't been able to work out if I'm going nuts.
I remember playing when I was a kid this was called "unsportsmanship behaviour" and scratched off. Unfortunately the suggestions from previous posters to change the rules for this won't really work, but football, as we know, is perhaps the most unsporting game there is these days (Salah ahem)

Maybe we should adopt the old MLS style instead

I like the ones in hockey where you run from the half way line

Trouble is, half the Premier League players would fall over before they got to the box and claim they were fouled.

Once the referee has signalled for a penalty kick to be taken, the kick must be taken. If, before the ball is in play, one of the following occurs:

the player taking the penalty kick or a team-mate infringes the Laws of the Game:
feinting to kick the ball once the kicker has completed the run-up (feinting in the run-up is permitted); the referee cautions the kicker

Since he almost stopped (although he did keep dragging one foot through very, very slowly) and then ran the last 3 steps before he took the penalty, it looks like it was legal.

Thanks. Could be an interesting 2nd yellow, should it ever happen.

Optimistic as ever

But you always stuttered in the run-up to doing it?

Palace would never score a pen if we adopted that format. 1-on-ones aren't really our thing. Not since the likes of AJ and DF were banging them in anyway.

How about the ball being placed equidistant between the goalie and the striker with both being allowed to run at the ball? With a motivated keeper legging it towards the ball there'll be much less dilly dallying. And I daresay, some rather splendid injuries.
