Edited by ASCPFC (16 Jan 2019 6.51pm) PC is just a bunch of silly people making a noise. You don't have to use particular terminology to avoid demeaning people and you don't alienate women by writing things like "the applicant sends in his form". ("... their form" is merely bad grammar). It costs nothing to use wording like "disabled people" instead of "the disabled": it just requires respect. The very fact of using a phrase like "mobility challenged" has the opposite effect of what it purportedly intends. Sensible people use and interpret sensible language without intending or inferring some slur or discrimination, much less hate, through it. If you are respectful and sensitive you don't need to be told what words to use, you choose the right ones naturally, if you have decent command of the language, of course.

Ok voice of the middle aged leftie here: Youngster seem to like it when a brand publicly have a social mission, this isnt a leftie thing, its a corporate thing. People don't seem to mind it when its Wendies doing their cheeky Twitter bants and Paddy Power taking the piss out of every football team other than their own but get outraged when its something that they don't fully agree with.

Looks like this one is going to blow the roof off. Typical that it’s produced by a British company with a female director living in London. Very bold of P&G to let this run. Be interesting to see what it does for them. There are a lot of Americans who support this sort of thing. Not sure they buy razors but I’m sure Gillette have done their homework. For sure it’s going to make a big noise Edited by dreamwaverider (18 Jan 2019 6.39am)

I think this tweet sums it up pretty well... [Tweet Link]
The advert had a good message, just badly executed. There are way more important things going on in the world to be upset over. Laughable. Edited by madcap_v2 (18 Jan 2019 7.21am)

Good video comments. Why do multinational companies think the public want to hear morality lectures from them? I don't even like it when the Archbishop of Canterbury does it but at least that's his day job. Yes the Arch really annoys me too, but if he stuck to morality rather than politics it wouldn’t be so bad. Then he could concentrate on his actual day job which is (much summarised) to encourage people to become Anglicans.

Valerie Leon I think, ah that takes me back to my sweaty yuff. Yes, Valerie Leon. She appeared in a number of ‘Carry on’ films. My favourite being as the shop assistant in ‘Carry on Camping’ where ‘Sid’ is too embarressed by her ‘comeliness’ to continue with his intended enquiry about a naturist holiday. This is just after the Bernard Breslaw character muses about going into a chemist for “you know” and, confronted by a lady assistant, coming out with toothpaste. Ah yes; they don’t make ‘em like THAT any more. Incidentally, it was Hai Karate (not Hi).
