Lots of positives and reasons to optimistic about this game. The Grimsby starting 11 showed that Roy is taking the cup seriously. Expect a few changes, but it will be a strong 11.

Wickham and Dann will hopefully both start and get much needed game time, they will be eager to prove they are ready to start a league match. Also for Speroni, he was rusty at Anfield and this will help him for the upcoming league fixtures.

Spurs are out to win the cup for sure but will be missing key players. They will be desperate to avoid a replay with their Champions League fixture congestion so will go full out for the win. As we all know, this is when we at our best and can catch them on the counter.

Should we progress, Spurs, Liverpool and one of United Vs Arsenal will be out. With all other Prem teams, outside of 'The Big 6', we'd have a chance.

I suspect that the reason Roy put such a strong team out against Grimsby was because he thought they might manage to score a hatful of goals and regain their confidence in front of the Palace faithful. Unfortunately they only just managed to scrape a win versus the 10 man league 2 team.
Its about time we beat Spurs and without Kane and Ali we should be able to give it a good go.

Roy will rest players Vs Spuds for the next league match (Southampton?), put 11 behind the ball in both and lose both.

Hope we put out at least a decent side capable of beating Spurs. A good cup run won't harm us....

You would appear to have a selective memory; it nearly relegated us when Pardew put most of his eggs in the cup basket (and the cabinet was still bare).

I tried creating a team just without Zaha and Luka and if Jairo goes you realise just how insanely light we are in midfield now. Is Lumeka our only cover for Zaha/Townsend now? If Kouyate is out then Luka is our only true holding midfielder. Even up top Ayew is our only fully fit striker. I know the players we let go were never regular starters, but with our better youngsters like Kirby and Innis out on loan we don't even them to call on!

Given our predicament I would still try and rest Zaha and Luka as Wednesday is too important and Saints have the weekend off. The whole defence can be changed and still look fairly solid.

Looking at the Spurs lineup today and assuming rotation we'll face a lineup containing Lloris, Rose, Sanchez, Walker-Peters, Skipp, Nkoudou and Moura. That's still pretty good, add some first teamers to that who whose work burden will be lightened by the fresh players and the team we face isn't that weak at all. We will have to be at the top of our game to win.

Pardew is a few eggs short of a basket himself.
I reckon that was the main problem
