Whatever the result at Liverpool, I am glad Jules is still with us - otherwise who would be in goal? However, once Lucas Perri is with us, we shall then have four goalkeepers. [Link] The 6ft 5ins shot-stopper is understood to be heading to Selhurst Park on an initial loan deal that will become a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

Tim Vickery the South American football pundit was on the fence for this signing. He pointed out that Perri is a 3rd choice goalkeeper for Sao Paulo and hasn't set the world alight. He did say that the deal is low risk because Palace won't spend any real money until the end of the season assuming we want to sign him.

I'm sure that Tim Vickery knows more about South American football than all of on here combined but I wonder how often he has seen the 3rd choice Sao Paulo keeper play? My guess is that he's assuming that he can't be that great yet as he hasn't become their number 2 keeper. Let's face it, if he was that good already, he wouldn't be joining Palace to become or 2nd or 3rd choice keeper.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

What he also said was that the no 1 goalkeeper for Sao Paulo could be replaced and yet Sao Paulo do not think Perri is up to the task. He also said that there was an English coach at Sao Paulo who has now moved to Ranger with Gerrard and that he rates Perri highly have worked with him. Perri played in the junior World cup with Richarlison so he has the pedigree. As I said in my previous post this is low risk. After 6 months the club will see has this young man settled, does he speak English and what is he like in training. If it doesn't wok out we send him back. I think this is a smart move by Palace we could have a star but it is a big ask for a young man to move continents, cultures and languages.

What happened to Hennessey? I'm sure it's been posted somewhere but it wasn't immediately apparent, other than general talk about him being injured. When/how did this happen? The cynic in me is thinking that Wayne isn't injured but Palace have taken him out of the firing line due to the Nazi salute business and then his performance against Watford. Of course I could be totally wrong but its just a hunch

Physio Room says both are out with no return date as yet. You may be right. He is number 1 for Wales so I am not sure if at this stage of his career he wants to be sitting on the bench. Guaita is clearly a better keeper with better ability, and the back four seem to agree based on the half time crumble versus Watford. In many ways Hennessey has done an amazing job to turn his Palace career around, but he certainly had a long time and lots of games. In yet other ways you cannot help but think he would be better off at a different club at this stage where he can have a fresh start. Signing another keeper might just force the issue. I for one would be glad to consign the worry of Hennessey in goal to memory.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

Speroni will not be with next year so we will be looking for two goalkeepers if we sell WH
