No getting away from the fact that WH is a weak link for us ( even though I do accept he has improved a bit ) VG has shown in recent weeks what a difference having a quality keeper can make to our points tally. Any strengthening in this position is welcome imo.

Good idea, he can start on Saturday up against Salah, Firminho and Mane. That should fine-tune him for the rest of the seaon.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Apparently we need a GK now ! ' by bexleydave We haven't signed him yet but many posters complain that our transfer policy is short term knee jerk. Isn't this an example of the club investing for the future? The other complaint I see a lot is why did we pay a fortune for this or that player when we could have picked them up cheaper when they were younger / unproven. Let's hope the board have listened and this is the start of a longer term strategy to identify young talent and not have to pay big money.

I recall him being the subject of brickbats on HOL when he was with us but he has really blossomed at Southampton playing under Puel,Pellegrino, Hughes and Hasenhuttl.
