The cheaper the clothes the cheaper the wages exploiting the people including children making the throwaway stuff, so Primark are indeed the worst offenders. I see the need for it with children’s wear but not really adult wear.

I think you will find that Primark use the same suppliers/manufacturers as many "leading" brands but obviously with different labelling. The media have chosen to highlight Primark in the past, presumably as they are seen as the lower end of the chain. In fact your argument is flawed, the more expensive the clothes the higher profit margin for the bigger names, the cheap labour don't get anymore. Personally I like their stuff and it is incredibly good value

To some families in the countries making these goods it is the only way they can eat.
If we didnt buy from them their lives would be a lot tougher.
The minimum wage doesnt exist everywhere.

Good post. I spent 3 years on the sub continent and can concur with the above

Whenever I read or hear ‘I think you’ll find’ it makes my eyes roll and reminds me of Sg Bilko. Remember him? Clothing suppliers are like food suppliers. Several brands are produced by the same supplier but with different ingredients, design and quality. You may even get different levels of pay on the items requiring more skill but I don’t know. But what you don’t have is them all using the same supplier. A few per supplier.

The bigger brands can and do change their supply chain due to consumer and social media pressure. Primark can’t, due to the margins, and what they also encourage is wear and throwaway, whether soon after or years or seasons after never wearing it again. This is more damaging to the environment if you’re wearing several or many items during the time another person will wear one due to the energy and water (yes water) it takes to produce, transport and sell that one item.

How very dare you.

Where else is one able to purchase one’s favourite faux alcantara shell suits?

Half the stuff in Primark (Penney's here) looks and smells like it has been worn and brought back. What bothers me is the underwear. I don't blame them for this policy.
