So this is how it feels to be a Tottenham Hotspur fan seeing no one come in and a few go out ? It’s oddly unsettling

I am confident that even without any more additions the squad is strong enough to finish about 12th. Benteke, Wickham Awey, Wilf, Townsend and Luka have enough goals between them to make it comfortable.

Totally agree. Save the little money we have and use it in the summer. No point buying anyone for the sack of it.

Still think we will get a striker in. Managers and Chairmen are like politicians don’t believe what they say. We did the right thing in dropping the Solanke move. There is no way Parish will not risk signing a striker surely he can see how much we need one. Will only be a loan though I reckon

Looks like the same transfer policy as usual, lots of talk, and then nothing.

Seeing Mutch flung out on his arse felt like a successful trip to the toilet at last after weeks of being unable to go.

I didn't know CW was a Geordie

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I think we are clearly making some space in the wage bill for another player and will get a striker in if we can get one of our targets at the right price. Possibly also a winger if we can get either on loan.

That’s slightly more than just a guess. There is some money to spend.

Too Mutch, Williams, and Puncheon must have been worth 50k a week minimum even with Hud picking up a bit of punch’s salary. Punch was in our 24, so that to me does suggest they are looking to bring a player in.

One of Sorloth or Soaure to go out on loan if we expect more than one in would seem like the logical movement. So, don’t expect that because this is Palace, far better to sign another player realise you can’t name him in your squad then sell him in the next window alla Holloway and the mystery French fullback.

With 50k a week to play about with there must be options in the loan market. If you are only paying a percentage of a players salary then there must be decent options, but is bringing in a striker when Benny will hopefully be back in Feb really going to make that much difference? Seems silly to try and bring in another big striker on loan when we will have Benny back in the next couple of months, or are we going to bring in another forward like Ayew. Strange to have two similar type players competing for one berth both on loan. Hey this is Palace.

No, they really don't. The only one holding this team up from that list is Zaha with 7-8 goals a season. If he goes, it's last place written all over Palace. Townsend gives some assists too and a stunner every 6 months or so, but too few too far between.

Benteke will maybe score 1 goal until the summer. Add to that 0 from Wickham, 1-2 from Ayew and pray so that we get penalties for Luka to take them. If we don't, then he'll have 0 goals too.

That might work if we didn't suffer injuries between the end of January and the end of the season but life doesn't happen like that.

It wasn't that long ago that we only had one goalkeeper and were excreting hot bricks that he wouldn't get injured. It's too much of a risk not to have backups

To suggest we will be ok without a recognised and proven striker who does actually find the net, is the type of short sighted thinking we sees us flirt with relegation year in year out.

We have been part of the Money machine that is the Premier League for a few years now. We should be looking to be an established presence in that league not constantly bumping along at the bottom and in most years reliant on there simply being others worse than us.

We have needed a striker for years but we continue to be happy just to paper over the cracks.

I do agree with this, I heard someone say that we are 'a Jamie Vardy away from finishing 7th' the other day which rung true to me especially considering we have the 4th most clean sheets in the league.

Is frustrating seeing us play what I think has been pretty well recently yet still having to turn the screw just to get a single goal sometimes (Burnley, Grimsby, Cardiff etc.),

However although sometimes it feels for all the world that there is sheer ignorance from the board, DF, RH etc in not immediately throwing the lot at signing a goalscoring, at least semi-marquee striker, I think there are many factors restricting that happening due to the nature of the market, who is actually available and what represents good financial investment for the club both short and long term.

I predict we would need a stroke of luck to sign someone half-decent, I wouldn't even mind Gabbiadini from Southampton (we only really need an out and out goalscorer not a technically gifted supremo) however I would imagine we may only even make just a single signing this window, if that, and it will probably be a somewhat disappointing and ineffective on (Niasse)!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

We are very happy with AWB. Can Roy show us some more under 23s - or under 18s - who he thinks will benefit from Palace PL game time this season? COYP
