So on the one hand, you want specifics but on the other, you can't even answer a simple yes or no question?

The honours system should be scrapped as it is massively corrupt. If you donate enough money to a party and you will get an honour, screw up as an MP and get sacked by the voters you get a peerage. This is not new Lloyd George was selling them 100 years ago. They throw in a few celebrities and the token cleaner / nurse / carer (who get the cheap medals) to disguise the hundreds of senior gongs handed out to time serving establishment figures. You will never be able to reform it so that only the deserving get it so better to abolish it, most countries don't do this. I have no problems with medals for bravery that is something else but just because you worked in the civil service and are retiring on your fat inflation proof pension why do you deserve a gong. Each year thousands of NHS staff retire where's there medal? Come to that where mine for services to banking and IT? And I certainly deserve a medal for supporting Palace for 50 years.
Good post....the whole thing's a joke....like giving Obama the nobel but just on a much smaller scale. I lost respect for the whole thing a long time ago. Edited by Stirlingsays (29 Dec 2018 11.47pm)

I have answered it, nurses, emergency services,on the frontline charity workers. There is 3 examples for you. You can't really include nurses as they know the job spec when they enter the profession and on the whole they just discharge their agreed roles. Emergency services are similar although there are occasions where some go above and beyond the call of duty and perhaps they should be commended. Front line charity workers seem to get their rewards by shagging the locals Edited by Midlands Eagle (30 Dec 2018 11.42am)

I don't have a problem with any of those groups being nominated but as I said in my post it just gets abused. Spend 30 years in Africa helping the sick and the poor and you might get an MBE. Meanwhile some civil servant gets a knighthood and for what. Or worse be a celeb have a cushy life makes lots of money fame and fortune etc. then bitch that you want a knighthood. (See Sean Connery). Scrap the whole thing.

I'm questioning the worth of footballers and other assorted celebrities in terms of handing out awards that were previously given only to people who made a major contribution to British life. The recent trend seriously dilutes the worth of Royal honours. You don't appear to have an opinion about that but you still complain because others do.

I have just deleted half a dozen posts from two of the usual suspects that have nothing to do with the subject but are just sniping at each other. if you wish to carry on with that sort of behaviour please either do it via PM or get a room
