Big fan of PvA, both as a player and a person. But for £25m we'd be mad not to sell. Schlupp is not as good a left back but would be adequate, leaving us a good chunk of money to invest elsewhere in the squad.

25 million is crazy, we'd have to accept...

However, I think our transfer policy should be to keep every decent player we have, because our recruitment is so crap that we've got to keep hold of the good acquisitions, and we can't rely on our ability to replace anyone that we sell.

So you get 25 million and everyone knows you have got it.
You are scraping around looking for available players in January and everyone will be looking for big money for average players.

No thanks. Our squad is thin enough already. We need to build the squad, not sell our best players for any amount.

He isn't worth £25 mill. Probably just crap but if true it would be hard to turn down.

Uncle Ron's policy was to sell one key player a season normally in the summer. We should not be selling any first team players until then. It will be hard to hold onto PVA, AWB or Zaha. I would be OK with one of them going no more than that and only for a good price.

If we need to sell in order to buy, then arguably it is a position we have more cover for with Schlupp, Souare and Ward (and even Riedewald?) capable of filling in. If it meant we could buy Moses and have another £12m to put towards another attacking player I think that would be good business.

I don't want PvA to be sold btw, but if a choice has to be made we don't have many players we would get a significant fee for, especially not in positions we have good cover for.

It it really was £25 million and we need the money to pay for a new striker and keep within FFP I'd say yes.

PVA was brilliant last season but hasn't been as good this and really isn't worth that amount.

I'd be happier if he didn't get sold and returned to his last season best.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

PVA's quality most of the time & I'd rather he stayed but, if someone's putting 25 million on the table we'd be mad to refuse, that said it's silly season & can't see it happening

If it's just for the money alone then no way should we sell him. If, on the other hand, we have a deal in place for a goalscorer and need the money to proceed then I'll drive PVA to the airport myself.

I've grown to like him due to his energy and enthusiasm, but fundamentally he remains very average at his principal job, which is defending. We have Schlupp, Riedewald and Souare to replace him with.

How utterly naive is the OP? They claim we could get a "decent" left-back for under £10m.

Schlupp cost £15m! and that was when the market was half the price.

When you sell your first-team starters you kill the team.

A big: 'No' from me.

F*ck me mate you’ve told me haven’t you!
Don’t mind PVA but he’s not consistent, I never know who’s going to turn up each week, the pva that right fancies it and is busting a gut to attack, or the other one that couldn’t trap a bag of cement. Decent enough player for our level though.

Most fans have correctly bonded with him, some haven't a glue what he does.
