This is nothing to do with your dislike of the HF is it, Becky?
I personally think your examples are miles apart. I am most certainly not a racist and have never chanted racist chants but I called Salah a cheating c*** because he was and you would have seen anger in my face. As it was Salah does that make me a racist? You decide

I don't dislike the HF and I've never said that I do. I think their importance is overrated and I don't like what is being done to the E400, but the HF are fine.

If you read my later post, I have clarified (I hope) why I drew the parallels between the Chelsea crowd and the people at the front of Block B based solely on videos.

Finally, no, calling a c a c is fine if he's behaving like one. I remember leaping out of my seat once and telling Barber (at the top of my voice) that he was a tart and that a big girl's blouse could have done better with the chance he had. That doesn't make me sexist either

I think Sterling upset people by appearing to have more ability than he has ever fully delivered. Made people wonder if he was a bit up himself and not prepared to put in the right kind of work.

That seems to be changing, he has impressed more recently.

But then I think some people impute reasons for his perceived lack of delivery and link it to their own prejudices. I do agree that the media has pandered to that, he was an itch they always liked to scratch. Not helped by the immense stupidity of getting 'that' tattoo.

It was a brave thing indeed for him to go into the media so directly, well done him.

But IMO the way e.g. Clarke Carlisle used this on the TV and had a pop at Piers Morgan this morning is either representative of a very angry man or is self-serving. There is no point trying to drive a wedge between people, we need to take everyone on the journey not find ways to talk down to them, make them feel guilty and alienate them.

Mind you, you just have to look at Piers Morgan to feel like punching him.

You see, that’s almost the root of the problem. If you dig around or listen to those that know Sterling, much of his reputation was manufactured by the press. Some stuff was just lies & other stories were more about the way they’re told - if you heard what Gary Neville said on MNF this evening it might give some perspective,

Giving haters reasons to hate (even if false) will magnify the problem. Chuck in race, religion etc & you might as well be “lighting the blue touch paper and retiring a safe distance.”

PS: Piers Morgan’s subsequent ‘joke’ tweet confirms he is part of the problem & a far bigger c#*¥ than Sterling could ever be.

Well its something that's become more and more prevalent on this forum, people defending racism or at the very least sitting on the fence rather than total condemnation, what's the angle trying to defend the indefensible? That we should somehow turn a blind eye? Or maybe because they are paid so much there must be some balance? I'd love to know

Nail on the head! The silence from many of the avid social/political commentators on this forum is deafening! Where is Stirling on Sterling for example?

Things have improved so much since the 70s and 80s but this shows that there is still a way to go.

Black players get abuse for diving way more than white players. Someone like Andy Caroll or Glenn Murray will get a lot let abuse for diving than Wilf or Sterling.

It's rare to hear racism at Selhurst but against Spurs I had to tell someone to shut up who called Son a slant eye Korean c***.

This story highlights what is wrong with modern Britain and it isn't racism.

The likes of SSN and other anti racism groups making a big fuss over it and playing the race card when we haven't even established that any racism occurred yet.

Sterling has had more than his fair share of abuse in the press, none of it racial, but so have many many others. The press latches on to public perceptions and writes stories to sell papers. It's that simple.
The idea that no one should write a negative story about a Black person in case it stirs up racial prejudice is frankly laughable.
One of the biggest arguments against multi culture is that we have to endure endless, non stop continuous whining about race and racism. God it's becoming tedious. The liberal media have gone barmy and their latest mantra about how Trump/Brexit world has stirred up racism is truly ludicrous.

No people, 300k people arriving here every year with their terrorism, rape gangs, street crime, sex trafficking, lack of housing, stagnating wages and religious dogma. That is what stirs up tensions.

The fact that you don't want to comment on this when you do on every other bloody thread says a lot more than your actual posts.

Does it even exist?

What manipulation are you referring to?

Can you provide specific examples?

That's trolling in my book, and seems to get his kicks from pushing the boundaries of racism rather than contributing to forum valuably

Just my 'tanners' worth(as long as he who must be obeyed, allows me)

Was there any racist abuse towards RS, OR, was it just normal 'terrace' abuse that's dished out by home fans to any away player at any given time? Has any proof of racist abuse been proven, or, do we just take RS word for it?

NOW, don't get me wrong, we all know that abuse, whether its racist or not, goes on at ALL games, home n away. I admit to abusing RS when he 1st played for Loserpool & then deffo when he played for England, I thought he was, as I called him, a 'Nancy Boy'. This was purely down to the way he ran(& the fact he played for L'pool & was s***e for England). Does that make me racist?

I suppose my point being is, I don't trust players that come out very quickly & claim 'racism' which people have eluded to already on these boards. Don't get me wrong, those of us of a certain age have, how shall we say, been vocal in our thoughts, both at matches & elsewhere. Most of us have 'grown up' & have embraced multi culturalism with an open mind & long may this continue

Now, Dear Santa, can we have a GOAL=SCORING Striker plz EM13 aged 62 & 1/2

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.
