I went to the 1-0 loss at Aldershot. It was a 3 sided ground with a high netting fence behind one goal. As I remember, Aldershot also played in red and blue and we really did pack out the away end.

I also seem to remember feeling hard done by as they had one or two really good loan players in their side. That was a bit more unusual in those days.

Aldershot currently plays in red and blue.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Indeed he did (see team sheet of matchday programme below) & a match I witnessed us lose 1-0.

Thanks. I recall it well as I was still at school and it was my first away game on my own outside London. We got the special train from Selhurst and when we arrived at Aldershot the town was already full of Palace in the bars. To this day I don't think I've seen another away game where the percentage of the crowd that supported Palace was so high. Re Scarboroigh that was the only game I missed in that cup run.

'The Recreation Ground' is indeed the name of Aldershot's stadium, so that is a great recollection 43 years on, Spidey!

Nearly Willoesque!!

Anyone have a copy of the programme team line-ups to post?

Thanks for the information.

With the not-untypical incorrect spelling of ‘Hinshelwood’!

Could have been worse - Christian Fuchs's name was spelt incorrectly in yesterday's program . . .

Me and my mate Tommy hitched hiked all the way there for that game.
As has been said start of a brilliant cup run..only for the saints to kick the shot out of Taylor in the semi.

Sunderland train breaks down,Leeds bricked at every opportunity..and Chelsea having to fight every five minutes.

always a Norwood boy, where ever I live.
