He was playing at a time when I followed Palace everywhere... He didn't have much technically but his work rate and tenacity was second to none.... He was certainly never one to shy out of a 50/50 tackle!!

Very sad indeed... RIP Darren.

Very sad news and so young. He was always a player you would rather play with than against. A real workhorse and a good player for us. Wolves goal will always be remembered but he did so much more. RIP

Don't want to seem too morbid but I've been compiling a little piece about Darren and there is no info anywhere that I can detect that gives the cause of death. Can anyone shed any light please? If so, many thanks.

Jamesey I genuinely have No idea and of course don't expect you to use it but generally, given the lack of detail it usually ends up being suicide, especially given his young age...

Of course I hope I'm wrong but I'm sure it will come out.

Thanks for your reply KBLF. As there is no mention of ill health anywhere one feared the worst, as you suggest.

Blimey. He was a real throwback footballer. You don't get them in today's game. You can't tackle like that any more. My goodness did he have a savage tackle. Thanks for the memories and RIP.

For anyone too young to remember that Wolves game: [Link]

It was pure magic!
