This post has been merged from a topic called 'awb' by bexleydave Also here . . . This is also on the BBC 'gossip' column citing the 'Mirror' & the Daily Fail mentions it online. Same news, just re-jigged depending which media outlet it comes from.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

I have seen recently that Egbo, at the age of 21, has mainly been playing for Monchengladbach reserves with limited appearances for the first team. Interestingly, if he was still at the club, would it have been him in the 1st team instead of AWB? I think seeing young English players going to the Bundesliga for more game time is a positive but seems to have worked against him on this occasion. Nonetheless, very happy with the outcome and how well AWB is doing!

If you really watch him he is no where near good enough for big teams and even if they did go for him he would sit on the bench Agree he is not good enough yet but not to the extent you're making out. Needs to improve his awareness and such and then he'll be a top player.

We need to keep our stars such as AWB and Zaha if we are to survive and ultimately push on. Love this lad, needs to work on his positioning at times but that will come with experience. See him in the England team within two years, we just need to make sure he's still then playing for Palace. All the while we're stuck in a s*** stadium we won't ''push on'' imo.

Sadly I believe there is some truth in these stories despite the disreputable sources and questionable activities of agents.

You would hope he would look at the Zaha example of leaving too soon and realise that he should take his time. Hopefully the lad has his feet grounded and is getting good advice (from people who aren;t his agent!) Edited by Dean_CPFC (07 Nov 2018 7.07pm)

I reckon we will receive bids. He is at a stage now where he will be expensive but if he keeps getting better it could get off the charts, so clubs will look at him. The potential for this lad is mind boggling. He could be a regular for England for years. With the need for a striker looming large, can Parish resist some fast cash?

If it meant we could buy a striker who can actually score then I'd sell him. We have lesser but adequate cover at right-back and it's not a position that will get us relegated. There is no escaping the fact that we do not have any capable strikers at the club and it needs fixing. Of course if we can get a striker in without selling AWB then great but if not he's the one we'd make the most and lose the least (in terms of our overall game) from.

Hmm, didn't the club just tie him down to a new contract !! I would suggest that he will be going nowhere soon. It's not in the clubs or the players interest. And certainly not for a player that has slated Palace at every opportunity, since he "rejected" us when we were interested. Clubs tend to tie players down to a longer contract to boost their value. We gave Gayle a new contract then sold him in the next window. That said I would hope that we don't sell him but I think the question is who are we going to sell to fund squad building? AWB or Zaha. It's clear we don't have decent money until we have the new stand so someone worth good money will have to go to fund 5 or 6 good quality players coming in.

We've heard over the last few years about Chelsea buying players the manager didn't want. It ends up with a manager playing a way he doesn't want to play or a player playing out of position. Would I have preferred Pulis to have stayed instead of re-signing Zaha? Of course my view is distorted by what Pulis did and how Zaha has turned out. I have to admit that at the time I would probably have chosen to keep Pulis baring in mind how our season ended (Crystambul and so on). We'd have kept Murray, Gayle, Jedi and who knows where we'd be as a team now? I doubt we'd be top 8 but I think we'd have been more stable.
