They've become another Brighton; soon they'll have 100+ page threads dedicated to him. I could make a case for them swapping life chairman with the Weed though

Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing!

This post has been merged from a topic called 'VAR testing at Selhurst' by bexleydave

VAR has been in test at Selhurst this afternoon.

Great experience for the Riddlesdown Collegiate Boys.

I presume after all the Zaha furore, VAR was not used on Saturday?!

Apparently Sane's disallowed goal against Fulham is the only decision that would have been overturned [Link]

VAR was being tested, but there was no reference to it from the pitch - presumably they were just checking out cameras and back room stuff.

My understanding is that they were testing the technological capacity to deal with a busy Saturday schedule.

I wonder what was wrong with our disallowed goal.

Ok I admit that I may be biased but I couldn't see anything wrong with it.

It was a highly dubious decision to disallow the goal, but not a clear and obvious error. It would therefore not have stood, even with VAR in use.

What we have to be mindful off is that the VAR will not advise a referee to review an incident etc etc if in the opinion of the VAR it is not a "Clear and obvious error" but of course this is very subjective and open to debate.

At the end of the day VAR is not a panacea - where subjectivity is present there will always be polarised views amongst supporters.

With that in mind...VAR should be consulted EVERY TIME the ball is in the back of the net with the obvious question "is there any reason why it CANT be given?"
