Agree to an extent; Schlupp was poor but I didn’t see Andros do anything to warrant not being taken off . Pretty much everyone else was meh but sorry the worst by far was Luka. Poor passing, poor positioning, poor free kicks and most of all where was the captain after the first goal? Everyone stood round looking shell-shocked and there was no geeing them up at all. I begin to wonder if his best games were alongside Cabaye? In which case bring in Kayoute and Meyer asap. Not knocked off the ball, driving forward whenever they could and wanting the ball. Oh and I think you are very harsh about Ayew. I think Luka May have played too much football - World Cup and all that. Could do with a spell on the subs bench

Thought the performance today was very poor. Schlup looks to me as if he has no idea what his role is in the team. Time after time gets sucked in allowing the opposition to deliver un challenged crosses in to our box. In my opinion Cabaye is beginning to look a huge loss. I am sure this is the reason Luka is not looking half the player he was last season. We huffed and puffed in the second half but really never looked like breaking through a very defiant Southampton rear guard. Yet again it is so clear that we lack a natural goal scorer. Benteke and Sorloth unfortunately don’t have that killer instinct in front of goal. All in all very disappointing and very concerning

In short, Meyer should have been on earlier and Kouyate probably from the start Schlupp poor again and Ayew a cross between Schlupp and Frazier Campbell. Townsend too good to take off. Hennessy and Wan Bassaka true class. Biggest lesson is the same as last week. PVA allows crosses. Never stops them. Compare to AWB. The opposition can see that. Bring back Souare anyone? Push PVA forward again? Hennessy true class? What was he doing for the second goal? Completely in no man's land. very odd keeping

I was sat in the Main stand directly in line with Højbjerg when he scored the second. As good as Hennessey has been this year he was completely out of position for the goal. He may have come off his line but seemed to have no idea as to where his goal was as he was protecting none of it! Højbjerg passed it into an empty net and Hennessey should’ve done more to spread himself in front of the ball, just like the Great Dane Peter Schmeichel used to do, week in week out. I don’t fault him for the first goal as it was just a good finish with a stroke of good fortune but for the second he was totally out of position and was left flapping lamely at thin air. That said, he kept us in it at Fulham and also today and has generally been excellent and vastly improved on last season. I can’t however defend him for the second goal today. Other players will get the time to shake off niggles and maybe a few long term absentees will be nearer a return . Poor start to the season result wise but apart from the frustrating situation with our centre forward we have looked half decent . Today we were a bit open defensively Hennessy earnt his corn but yet again no Zaha = no points .

Even Kouyate was pointing where he should be as he chased the ball down clearly trying to limit the angles. By coming out into no mans land it made the finish a simple one. He’s been great this season but that was shades of old Hennessey - offset by the saved pen but still leaves a nagging doubt.

I am certainly not hitting the 'Panic button' but when one loses three on the bounce and regularly plays a striker who has only scored 1 goal (Penalty) since the end of January then certainly cause for concern. Lose at Huddersfield on the back of yet another abject Benteke performance and I suspect supporters will really start to vent their spleen.

Zaha reported his groin strain at the end of training, after Hodgson had picked the team? If this is the case, is there still not the possibility of Roy accepting that with nobody to take the pressure off the defence like Wilf, he needs to change the team? In which case starting with Meyer and Kouyate would have given us more creativity and drive going forward. If Meyer is the new Cabaye why is he on the bench? Kouyate looked exceptional when he came on and can clearly run from the back with the ball. Living in Southampton the drive home was a long, miserable one. Bill Shankly used to call them a 'pub team' because they were always rough and physical. With Sparky in charge they seem to have gone back to their old habits. I thought it was men vs boys today. The Palace players allowed themselves to be bullied out of a perfectly winnable game. I don't think Roy's selection helped and we still have a problem keeper despite improvements. He was caught in 'no man's land' for the second goal, when he needed the conviction to come for the ball (Jacko would have been out like a shot in years gone by) I know Roy only ever seems to play 4-4-2, but I wonder if a 3-5-2 might use the talents of a small squad better? Hennessey/Guaita Tomkins, Kouyate, Sakho Wan Bissaka, Milivojevic, Meyer, MvCarthur, Van Aanholt Ayew, Zaha The A-Z of deadly finishing!!!
55 years on the Palace rollercoaster! |

Well I remember Mandanda against Liverpool when he came out and spread himself and all Firmino did was dink it over him for a goal. Dead easy this goalkeeping lark when you're sitting in the stands. And that's the second time this season at home that late breakaways have left our keeper exposed.
