What are you on about?? His location, says ‘South Pole’ which unless he’s a penguin, is obviously a joke!!

I know! It was my idea of a joke. Not a funny one then!

I'm tough. I'm ambitious. I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, I'm OK with that.

Not being a pedant (that’ll make a change, I hear you say) but am interested in the word “throes”.

I always took this to refer to struggling with something or suffering pain or distress from something. But as HOLers often point out, a joy of the English language is that it can change and adapt.

I would argue that the 'throes' of re-generation can be struggling and/or painful as it refers to 'the process of...', especially if it's only just starting. The end product is positive but the journey there is not so for different reasons.

Penguin's hate seagulls.

the regeneration of South Norwood would need to start with giving the green light to those mooted ideas of a Thameslink train direct to City Thameslink.

To stoke the potential ‘gentrification fire’, there is now a craft beer bar on South Norwood High Street called the ‘Craft Beer Cabin’! Haven’t frequented said establishment yet but I am partial to pretentious pale ale... think I’ll give it a spin.

About 25 years ago, it wasn't s***.

It's a shame nothing happens in these areas until after the rot sets in.

the permanent traffic jam in south norwood high street, plus all the fried chicken shops. Its enough to make you weep.

they can gentrify all they like but so long as these two problems persist it will always be a dump.

maybe a 'one way traffic system' like upper norwood would make it better ?

When I went to school back in the sixties there was verdigris covering most of the subway part of Norwood Junction station, which remained there until a couple of years ago where it was covered with those white metallic tiles.

That's how fast any regeneration is going to happen folks.

For me South Norwood gave up the ghost when the Goat House went.
