That's completely different and more superficial; it's just replacing one preposition with another, it's not using a preposition where a verb belongs.

Well, Twitter (like SMS) is an artificial linguistic environment because of the constraints on message length. What's happening there isn't in itself different from what happened when people wrote in Morse code, sent telegrams or composed newspaper headlines (a manager doesn't "consider" or even "look at" a prospective player; he "eyes" him).

The difference is of course that in this instnce there is a sociolinguistic caste in which such language use is assigned prestige.
