I personally reckon 170k a week is right, including the signing on fee divided by the duration of his contract. some spin going down. I don't see this guy at Palace for 70k a week, having joined on a free. just my OPINION which is very often wrong. With appearance bonus, win bonus and goal bonus there may be a chance of it being pretty high. There was probably a large signing on fee and some compensation for Schalke.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter how you break it down, that amount of money is going to be leaving the club every week, effectively.

Mate the difference from what we’re paying him to £170k (£90k per week) is £14 million. Schalke get £500k. So £13.5 mil minus £5 mil say signing on fee, is £8.5 divided by 3. Do you reckon his bonuses are that much? Those are still wages taking us over FFP and the press have said the £170k is Daily Mail rubbish.

Didn’t see this post. That £170k was so ridiculous you only needed to know our wage / revenue situation it was complete bollox.

Any of that not paid now is wages and breaking ffp. Do we have £14 mil to give him, in cash? Would we? All very very very doubtful.

how many times has that complete BS have to be shot down??? About 30,000 times or as many fans who went to any of our Wembley appearances so maybe 60,000 times or more. I might start believing he’s being paid £370k per week because someone said so.

170/w over 3 years is 26.5m. if he still played for Schalke under contract and we could get him for 14m and a 70k wage (26.5m package), would we? I say we would if he's anything like as good as his reputation. my hunch there is a bonus element and the signing on fee comes at the end of the ride, not the beginning. but I don't know and could be WRONG. It is a GUESS like everybody else's. 70k a week for 3 years is 10m. I simply don't buy it that an Everton or a WHU or even a big club wouldn't think I'll have a look at that. but it's such an apparent "bargain" that I find it unlikely. hope so though

Maybe the 170k is over the first year, which would work out at 80k a week with a 5 mill signing on fee and then the 2nd and 3rd year would just be 80k a week.
