He was our best attacking player the year after we were promoted so fair do's but it has been a pretty steady decline since then

Hard to believe we finished so high up the table in 2013/14 with the likes of Jerome, Gabbidon and Dikgacoi all starting over half the games

He was better on the wing. He was good for Pulis. His free kicks were good.

Then Pardew came.

Punch became poor. He would spend his time giving the ball away and sulking. It’s a big fat no from me.

Very suprised to see some say he was better on the wing. I don't think he was and wouldn't suit our current setup on the wing.

It's not his playing style to take players on down the byline, often wanting to cut back in, slow the pace and play a simple pass or cross from deep. Lacks pace to beat a fullback for pace and lacks the dribbling skill to trick his way past. He is sometimes successful with driving runs and his effort to get stuck in. These traits actually made him a better central player then a wide player in my opinion and up to the FA Cup Final he did very well in the center of our midfield.

From then on it spiraled downhill for him and actually the enforced break may well have done him the world of good. Only time will tell but has the fresh start and potential ability to still do a good job for us.

I remember things differently. 3 or 4 years ago there was a strong voice by the media to have him aat least selected for the national team. He was one of the best English wingers in the league, that was a position in which he thrived. Hit double figures for goals and assists 3 seasons in a row. Benteke doesn't hit those as centre forward, let alone winger. Only other English wingers hitting those in the same period were Sterling, Welbeck and Milner (if you count him as a winger), maybe Walcot too if he had been more fit. So Puncheon was pretty good.

I don't know what made them move hom to the centre.

Nothing against him, but no longer a PL standard player any more IMO, or at best a bench warmer. Would love to be proved wrong though.

Reckon the next few months will be crucial for him, if he can stake a claim when his chance comes, (and i feel given our current squad he will be given a chance) then he could rejuvenate his career here, if not though and he misses his oppurtunity, then surely he'll be released at the end of the season.

The amount of times that a giant groan would be heard around as he came on or was announced in the starting up just tells you how useless he is! Was truly awful and the only good thing he did all season was injury De Bruyne as they broke away! Was past it a couple of years ago really and defo my captain material! Give armband to Luka, and imo Tomkins/Sakho and that will be fixed!

If he hae to be in the 25 man squad then he bettter be an unused sub or not in the match day squad at all.

Really shouldn't be here tho.

And yet the more delusional amongst us like to think that we have the best fans in the league

He was moved to the middle because he lost his pace, he's now terrible at everything. Won't get a game this season if we have any aspirations of staying up.

Yes..still a bloody good player and he will prove it I'm sure. We are Crystal Palace not Barca.

I don't need to sell my soul...he's already in me.

You don't need that much pace as an inverted winger. It's more about skill and technique. Mahrez, Mata, Bernardo Silva, Payet are good examples for this.
