Oh, you meant the whole ground? I was only referring to the new main stand. The other 3/4 will be problematic.

The main stand alone is nearer £100 mil. If we get relegated that stand might seriously limit our transfer business.

Offering Wilf a new contract after he signed a 5-year deal a year ago isn't fooling me. It's PR puff.

Is it ?

A mid-table finish.

Playing the football I saw against West Brom each week with the personnel to deliver under RH.

That would be really great.

No fantasy passionless stadiums but Selhurst on a south London winters' night with the fans in full voice.

The american experience will not work here.

I'm not sure I follow this. I understood the funding for the stand was ring-fenced and thus of no impact. Also (while I don't fully understand them) I thought FFP rules may actually free up further funds given the increase in capital assets from infrastructure improvements?

What might, of course, negatively impact on our transfer business is being relegated...

Certainly Steve Parish is on record as saying that, had we been relegated last season, it would have had no effect on the building plans. Unless he says otherwise, it's probably safe to assume that remains unchanged going forward.

It's a sense of entitlement. Most of the 14 clubs outside the 'big six' realistically just want to stay on the Premier League gravy train.

Fulham managed 13 consecutive seasons, and in that time got to a Europa Final, which they lost. After 4 years out, they have managed to get back.

Stoke did 10 consecutive seasons, and in that time got to one FA Cup Final, which they lost.

This is our 6th consecutive season, and we've already had a (losing) final in that time. That is about par I'm afraid. Be realistic, be happy - Palace fans have never had it so go for a sustained period of time (bar the late 80's early 90s)

To put what we have managed into context, Palace's current run of 6 years in the top flight makes them the 10th longest established team there:

1/ Arsenal (1919)
2/ Everton (1954)
3/ Liverpool (1962)
4/ Man Utd (1975)
5/ Tottenham (1978.)
6/ Chelsea (1989)
7/ Man City (2002)
8/ West Ham (2012)
9/ Southampton (2012)
10/ Crystal Palace (2013)
11/ Leicester (2014)
12/ Bournemouth (2015)
13/ Watford (2015)
14/ Burnley (2016)
15/ Brighton (2017)
16/ Newcastle (2017)
17/ Huddersfield (2017)
18/ Wolves (2018.)
19/ Cardiff (2018.)
20/ Fulham (2018.)

It's as good as it's likely to get, and we are punching.

I think so else why offer him one? He got a very large pay rise last summer and has 4 years left. Why give him a new one? He can't leave can he?

Once he gets to two years left his value starts to fall. So everytime we can renew his contract and bump the length back up to 4-5 years to gives the club security in his value.

A year in to a four year deal means we have likely 24 months before his value drops. Smart move is to keep getting him to resign.

Not sure if what ‘PR’ we gain from it tho.

The ringfenced amount isn’t as much as the cost of the stand.

How do you know; it doesn't appear in the accounts. If Parish says building wouldn't be affected by relegation I'm inclined to believe him until proven otherwise.

Of course amongst several of my long suffering Palace supporting drinking pals Dougie is often mentioned, talked about and discussed.
However Dougie is spotted at matches presumably watching players but more than that, what is the clubs scouting structure and player tranfer policy?
Dougie himself:-
What areas does he think Palace should target for this season?
Buy young talent and nuture it ourselves?
Or established players that are proven?
Buy British or foreign or both?
What is Dougies particular philosophy on transfers as far as Palace are concerned?
What expertise does he bring to the club in this area?
What is his brief from the club?

Probably won't get any answers to most of these but it would be nice to know a little bit more.
Rather than waking up on the morning after the transfer window has closed to find we might have bought someone but tried to get another over the line but failed again!
Only to find they the last 2 players left we could have signed anyway due to leaving it so late!!

There isn't a club in the world who would answer those questions.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.
