I would appeal for the hell of it I'm sure that at least you give yourself a chance of finding out why you got it and may get it cancelled. Minimum it takes up their time and money. £50 could buy you a nice meal out and a glass of pino. I have appealed and I made out that I might be a client. That should make them check at least.

Nowadays I just don't park in car parks operated by scum. There's a reason why I go to Tesco and never shop in Morrison's and the manager of the latter knows exactly what that reason is. Business and managers that get into bed with these reptiles deserve to go out of business and get fired respectively. Boycott and make it obvious why.

Oh, and you have another excellent tool to use nowadays. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Assuming you end up acknowledging your existence at all, write to them and exercise your right to be forgotten. Then the day the notice expires demand evidence that your request was carried out. One foot out of place and it's a letter to the Information Commissioner. The fines make the Data Protection Act look like what it was - a fig leaf.

Is what most ordinary consumers who don't understand data protection think. The requirement of the law is that they have to "forget" your personally identifying information (PII). The difference with your credit card (assumning you have a balance with them) is that you agree they can use your PII for the purposes of the contract you have with them, so they have a valid reason for holding it (but they can't use it for anything else unless you explicitly allow them to). In this case once you have paid your speculative invoice they have no business holding your PII for anything so you can get them to delete it. Obviously they don't delete the actual transaction because they must to their accounts as if they were a legitimate business, but they can't hold data which links it to you unless a) they have a good reason to (they don't) or b) you explicitly tell them they may. Flipping eck Prepare for a response like this... Before giving PCNs, our CEOs check for any parking items displayed and record the details. The CEO saw no Pay & Display ticket. This can happen, for example, when people forget to display Pay & Display tickets or when Pay & Display tickets fall off windscreens. It is unfortunate if this happened with you, but a Pay & Display ticket is only valid if it is displayed so that a CEO can see all its details.

I was done in West Wickham when I had a ticket and it was clearly on display. A chancer of a warden. I saw him hovering. Not only did I object to the fine, I also asked for the Warden to be disciplined. I was told that he was, who knows.
