I remember seeing Palace vs Uppsala in the 90's. We won 8-0 if I'm not mistaken. I was chatting to Ian Wright after the game who had scored a hat-trick, he said he could have score another 8 if he was trying.

Happy days.

Any one know why we don’t have a home friendly this year?

3 people shot dead in Malmö over night. A prime reason I advised people not to stay there.

This isn't a one off incident but a regular occurrence as are bombs and drive bys on the local police station.

Is that just a Malmo thing or have there been issues elsewhere? Seen bits on UK news sources but didn’t realise it was that bad!

It's primarily a Malmö thing when it comes to bombs, shootings and so on plus attacks on police stations.

There are problems in 'ghetto' areas of Stockholm but not on the same level as in Malmö. I'd liken the Stockholm suburbs to Brixton in the early 80s.

In Malmö it seems every week there are shootings or stabbings and at least once a month an explosive device is left somewhere, such as a restaurant or bar. They take pot shots at buses and police cars too.

It's been like that ever since I've lived in Skåne (the southern most county) and the problem is it's creeping north.

I live in Helsingborg, 65km north of Malmö and last September the local police station had a bomb left outside which destroyed the entrance. It's still boarded up today.

The police publish everything on their Twitter feed and website, even down to drink driving arrests. Every weekend there are violent muggings at night but, naturally, they are people out after the pubs.

A lot of it never makes the UK news and even in the Swedish news because it is a sensitive issue, for example they are not allowed to describe ethnicity of the suspects.

Put it this way, Trump wasn't totally wrong when he spoke about Sweden and I'm not a fan of his.

At the time of writing there are reports of another shooting in Landskrona, a town between Helsingborg and Malmö.

That explains why it looks so out of place/rundown when I've been there. Never knew that.

Luckily I've had private transport to and from everywhere when I have been. Decent stadium, even has heating in the posh seats.

It's a shame because it has nice architecture.

That said until the bridge to Denmark was opened (I think it was 199 Malmö was pretty much only a port for ferries to Denmark.

It's that problem Helsingborg has. If or when the ferry to Helsingör is replaced by a tunnel then the city will die and turn into a sh*thole. As it is the city centre has few shops and is overrun by cafes and restaurants.

The city residents have been fighting the tunnel idea for ages but they might have to admit defeat soon.

It does have some quirky stuff.

I've been over that bridge more than a few times, its very handy and I've only ever been stuck in solid traffic when it snowed and there was an accident.

I frequented a few of them, mainly up near the tower last time I was over. At least they've already got the McDonald's in place shouldn't sadly demise.
