I was as baffled as anyone but then had a thought. Part of this could be an apology about the Irish Liverpool fan (not sure what his current status is) as this could show an affinity for Ireland. Damo won some caps for Ireland. Don't think it was a huge number.

Delaney, Ramage and Jedinak set a standard in their attitude and commitment which permeated the club and enabled Roy to make the most of the talent available to him as despite poor results that was never lost. We owe a lot to all three.

Absolutely. It bought a lump to my throat when he spoke and brought back memories of him sobbing when we won promotion. He embodies what Palace is about and will always be one of 5he Palace family.

been one of my favorites since he signed. must have been a fairytale for him- quitting football and almost flying back to ireland and then being a key player not only in a promotion team, but for years when that team was back in the prem! love it!

Found this old article from when we went up. Interestingly it says he intends (well then anyway) to get into Triathlons when he finishes playing football. Wonder if that's still the case

Clutching at straws but could it be because he started the come back against Liverpool that saw us destroy their title hopes?

Only possible reason I can think of is maybe whoever does the Roma twitter feed is actually a Palace fan.

I remember when we signed him t was rumoured he was looking towards going to the MLS. Best I can come up with is some sort of Irish-Italian American Mafioso connection lol.

This has popped up a few on times on Twitter - ‘Anyone confused about what happened. Damien Delaney was in a hotel in London when the fire alarm went off. Damien rushed out of his room and followed a young boy who proceeded towards a ladder. Then the ladder snapped and the boy fell but delaney caught him. Gracie Damien’. Apparently the lad was one of Roma’s board members kids. Can’t vouch for the validity, but like I say, this has been mentioned via several people.

That's awesome if true. Also, if true wouldn't a pre season friendly against Roma for Damo leaving be one of the most wonderfully bizarre reasons for a friendly of all time

I can clear this up actually, the guy who run's Roma's Twitter is indeed a Palace Fan, my mate used to live with the guy some time ago, but fair play to him. Alex Dimond is the guy's name, you can find his twitter via a quick search

Have I missed something here? Where has it been (reliably) reported that he's leaving?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham
