Just qualified for another record sixth season in Premier League, team full of great talent, stadium improvements on the cards, full houses for every home game. Where, oh where did you go wrong, Steve Parish?

Where, oh where did you go wrong, Steve Parish? Well said Jamesey. Parish has been far from perfect, but has made more good decisions than bad (in my opinion) & the fact that he sees where he's gone wrong in the past bodes well for the future.

Just give it a rest. We’re finishing the season on a high. Could finish as high as 9th and things feel good around the place and you ha e to come back on and start digging the chairman out again. No need for it. What part of Parish comes out and admits he’s made errors and they need addressing are you having difficulty with?

Where, oh where did you go wrong, Steve Parish? Where has Parish gone wrong? Where Parish has said himself. Top man, owner and businessman for admitting so and wanting to put it right. Thinking that there isn’t an issue is a weakness itself and he’ll know that too.

No value? Are you certain of that? It is as if the Sky Sports transfer deadline day special only started 6 years ago... Of course doing deals early has its benefits - the problem is getting the stars aligned. Those stars are the player, his agent, his club and family. The club wants the best deal so does all it can to run an auction. So even when you meet the asking price you fail to close the deal especially as the player may want to go to a bigger club or his wife to a hotter city/etc. The agent is key and most of them are dicks. He may or may not be working in the interests of his client but either way its another variable that can throw a spanner in the works. Unless you're one of the bigger clubs and prepared to pay over the odds it is very difficult to close deals early. Which is why there is a frenzy every deadline day. It is the nature of the beast - like a bad disco used to be one hour before it ends. Suddenly the needy get ready to pair up.
All valid points but the approaches we’ve made to clubs leaving them hardly any time to find a replacement don’t fall under any of those variables and when you’re looking for a necessary player you’re not only making yourselves vulnerable but you’re also relying on the holding club to make themselves and the next club vulnerable and it just isn’t guaranteed or even working.

No need for it. I guess Steve needs to give it a rest too, then? As I said before I am commenting on an interview he gave, where he admits to making mistakes. This is a thread discussing those mistakes. Not sure what I should give a rest. Parish said he made mistakes, so I guess Steve is dragging the tone down as we finish on a high, then? Not sure how the table is calculated on your new "cloud cuckoo land" chat board but to finish 9th we would need to gain 6 points from the last game, winning 8-0, and hoping Leicester get turned over 0-2. I think you get 3 points for a win in this league. Goal difference wouldn't matter if we got 7 points for the win of course, and hoped Leicester lose. Yes we are on a high, yes we have done very nicely indeed in the end this year, thanks to Hodgson. We have a great chance to not be in a relegation scrap next season, if Parish really has learned from his mistakes.

Where, oh where did you go wrong, Steve Parish? Lol. Did you read the article I pasted a link to? It is an interview with Parish where he admits to making errors and being the man responsible for the FDB fiasco, for one. So where Steve went wrong, as what Steve himself spoke about in the link I pasted..... Maybe you should read it. Yes we are about to embark upon a 6th season in the top flight, but at various points this year we haven't had a single fit striker in the team. We hired a manager after taking 3 weeks too long, famed for possession based football and s&&& the bed and fired him after a few games. We were an injury away from Dion Henry being our starting keeper. We tried for the second window in a row to sign ronnow with 20 minutes of the window left. We didnt bring a keeper in, in January, despite Hodgson publicly demanding it - which as you have noticed, he doesn't do very often. We absolutely need to do better. Parish needs to do better.

It seems an honest self-appraisal with a commitment to change things. Hopefully the keeper situation is already sorted. That leaves someone to replace RLC if we can't keep him, another striker and maybe another two midfielders. There's more than that needs to be done as quite a few players are out of contract and in view of our historic injury record we need to ensure that we have a pretty decent squad of 25 and not just a first eleven

Interesting points mate but I would suggest that the late approaches we’ve made to clubs should not be viewed in isolation because they are most likely a result of failed bids (that turned into auctions or due to some other variant of f***edupness). So the bid for X player didn’t give the club time to get a replacement but by that stage (and to use my bad disco analogy) we know the lights in the club are gonna be switched on any minute.

Talk is cheap. It would be nice to have one season where we are safe with 10 games left. A comfortable top ten finish is the next goal but that will only happen if we keep Wilf and add real quality to the squad.

Clearly mistakes have been made - it is not being negative to mention this. We have an unbalanced squad with a massive wage bill yet other than the 1st X1 there is limited quality. It is a concern when we have 3 players on more than say Harry Kane. Both the last 2 transfer windows were a joke too. However, we have shown recently when players are fit and confident we are a decent team. I suspect there will be 5 or 6 out so we need 5 or 6 in. The squad is also quite old so a few younger squad players would be a sensible option. We also need a pacey striker, regardless of whether Benteke stays. I think both Roy and SP are fully aware of this
