That article is two months old. It states Diana Abbott will be visiting in the next week. If it was true, she'd have been screaming blue murder about it ever since her visit. And if they were still on hunger strike after two weeks, plus a further two months, they'd all be dead. Bulls*** article.

As for sexual assault.....well that's the law. Edited by Stirlingsays (24 Apr 2018 10.25am) You misunderstand - I'm not saying anything of the sort. What I'm saying is that people have a right to be treated with respect and if it's found that they haven't been (i.e. the sexual assualt claims by the OP are proven) then there are questions to answer.

"The research, by charity Women for Refugee Women, revealed that 85 per cent of women who had sought asylum and been detained after the new policy came into force were survivors of rape or other gender-based violence, including forced marriage, female genital mutilation and forced prostitution." The rape and sexual abuse etc. has taken place in their country of origin, and that is why they have fled to this country. Nowhere does the article, or the quotes from the female detainees say that they have suffered any sexual abuse or rape at the centre. Just what my friend says Becky.......it's an agenda.

Do we have to say people have a right to be treated with respect to everyone now? While someone is working this platitude is fine and professional and will be in the handbook....but in a more normal world respect has to be earned and treating people how they treat you makes more sense. You're just have to forgive me, I'm grumpy.

The women at Yarl's Wood Detention Centre have been staging a hunger strike for nearly two weeks now, not only based on their treatment - which has included routine sexual abuse and physical violence - but also on the lack of adequate healthcare, and the lack of pay for carrying out work within the centre. For those of you who aren't aware of what Yarl's Wood is, it's a private detention centre run by Serco for the Home Office. It includes asylum seekers, women escaping war or murder in their own countries, and many who have their migration cases pending. What do people make of this happening in our country? Just to spice the thread up, here's every HOL'ers favourite MP for Hackney with a stimulating and heartfelt account of her visit to the centre and continual work in Parliament to bring these women and families to justice: [Link] Don't believe all you read. These centres are routinely inspected by Independent Inspectors. I am not saying they are perfect but, believe me, nowhere near anything like this. What you also have to ask is, why are they in there? Border Force do not routinely detain people for weeks/months on end unless they are offenders who are likely to offend again or are refusing to leave when all appeal avenues have been exhausted. If posters feel this is unfair, you are entitled to your opinion but we cannot allow people to flagrantly disregard the laws of this country without redress

Empty Yarl's Wood of prisoners. Re-locate Amber Rudd her officials and Home Office there. Lock it up and throw the key away. Problem sorted..... Even better if Mrs May was interned in one of her hell-holes.

Terrible conditions but they can be detained, deported, or allowed to stay in the country and it appears you're unhappy with the first option.

Tear it all down. Why don't you go to an actual country with real imprisonment problems like China or Russian, any number of countries not using the European legal processes and try tearing them down. You won't last long. But at least you'll have made some use of your life. Instead of thinking that one of the few examples of human history where genuine civilisations has taken root requires tearing down. In many of those awful examples around the world it's socialism or Marxism that has destroyed any chance of advancement for peoples. It's the communists who build walls to keep people in. No western country ever needed to do that. In my view we need to deport the fifth columnists along with the illegals. Edited by Stirlingsays (24 Apr 2018 6.11pm)
