I completely agree with this as YC (I believe is out of contract) and Shaqiri has a good engine.

I still think Burke is a huge talent and could be a star, would benefit from playing with Wilf and Andros. Otherwise Shaqiri would be an absolute no brainier but would have presumably have better offers.

Jake Livermore from WBA would be a good squad addition and would help add some much needed depth. Couldn’t see Him costing the earth either.

Livermore played for England his price will go up. I can see us going for Craig Dawson, he is a Roy type full of energy.

Hope for everyone’s sake that’s an ironic bit of sarcasm ;-).

As for Charlie Austin. Any chance he’s a bit over rated? Works hard, presses well, would probably be a very useful player to many clubs. But he’s just never impressed me at all in any of the times I’ve watched 90 mins of the Saints this season.

Austin can find space, bit like Murray, and with a bit more accuracy could easily have had a couple of goals today . Injuries are his big issue

Then you haven't watched a lot of games, cause at least the double against Everton and the goals against Arsenal were spectacular performances. He was the best English striker in the league outside the top 6 before the injury.

There was fear every time a high cross was sent towards him. He's a master of winning heading duels. And not that slow either considering his height

For me he’s a work horse. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But lacks that extra bit of quality which were desperately crying out for in a striker.

I think there are certainly better options out there to be had. We have a good English contingent in our squad, so we’re not actually unnecessarily desperate for home grown players. The fact he’s english would command a premium, and looks like the Saints will stay up anyway. So I’d rather we were more coy with our transfer funds & explored Europe where you can get more bang for you buck, especially in terms of potential.

I’d love Austin. If he wasn’t injury prone I think he’d be at a top club.
Strong, clever player, knows where the goal is. Decent.

the one player who i really like out of the likely relegated teams is Matt Phillips. Think he is a Palace style of player quick and not short of skill. Good cover for Andros and Wilf and might even challenge Andros for a starting position. If we lose Bakery Sako then he would be an ideal replacement.

Huddersfield are not mentioned, but they are still in the dogfight. Would not mind their Aussie midfielder Mooy, a terrier and a good footballer!!! Especially if Macca leaves for Rangers....

This guys mustard, can’t see him staying at Stoke. Worth a punt? He always seems to give his all and looks so good in the ball.
