Maybe I missed it, but has there been any announcement regarding investigation, and hopefully punishment, of West Ham for all the trouble there? I guess future home games will have a police presence. Who would want to be a steward there after recent events, but I guess they'll try to get more stewards in. West Ham v Southampton is truly impossible to predict with any confidence, but I'd suggest Hughes is more inspirational than Moyes- which could well be key if either side goes a goal down.

I think that the managerial change will help Saints. Hughes is a motivator and whilst i feel that he is not a great manager (Stoke proved that) he can and will get a reaction short term from players. So I think Soton will win. I think West Ham may well get relegated but I have a hunch Huddersfield will take up 3rd spot possibly on Goal difference to Spammers. I think we will draw Saturday inching us away from relegation area

that'll do me

I understood that there will be more security. However, that's irrelevant if the mob goes bananas there will be hell to pay.

So the optimum result would be West Ham to win at the weekend and put paid to Soton, followed by a riot (with pitch invasion) at their next home game which results in the docking of points by the FA so they both get relegated........ win win!

Unfortunately it is so tight down there, Soton only 2 points behind, game in hand and better goal difference that only the Baggies seem out of it.

Difficult to predict the WH vs Southampton result. WH just seem flakey and Southampton can't score. I suppose a draw is best for us. Arsenal should beat Stoke at home as should Man Utd with Swansea at home. Like you I expect Newcastle to beat Huddersfield. If we can nick a point though and the other results go this way we could move up to 14th with Swansea (depending on how many Utd score), Huddersfield and West Ham below us and the bottom three remaining as they are.

That's actually the result I fear most -every chance it'd leave us worse off after the Liverpool game and there's no substitute for points on the board. Much better I think for one of the teams to lose - losses in relegation six pointers can feel terminal!

If Soton win things could get very toxic at West Ham and it'd be no great surprise to see them collapse completely and end up with 32/3 points. Moyes did a good job turning them around but he's the last manager I'd want right now.

Then again if Soton lose then they have Arsenal and Chelsea next and could face a run in on a bad run of form, with a really crowded fixture list and on only 28/9 points.

I'm taking Soton to win and Stoke to be the club that turns it all around and finish in a blaze of glory with West Ham and Huddersfield down -only a small element of wishful thinking in that!

Saints are like top 8 in regards to creating chances, they just aren't scoring and don't have much of a option.
West ham on paper have the better team, but their home matches are toxic and away games aren't any better in terms of results.
I really hope they go down and people look at the hierarchy and the whole debacle of the stadium as main reason.

i honestly look at their owners as - dare i say it, as parish on steroids. some of us (admittedly not all, so relax with the self righteous replies) think parish has an ego, does it for himself, well look at the west ham board.

So much is riding on the result at the weekend, its so very difficult for the loser. The TV schedulers have missed a trick with this one with their obession with the top 6.

Article in the telegraph this morning.

Will the unrest at West Ham cost them their Premier League status?
We will know on Saturday. West Ham are at home to Southampton and the loser, if there is one, will be in deep trouble. Even a draw is tricky. In terms of the squad available, West Ham should not be in trouble but the toxicity around the club has taken its toll. Five home games in their last eight fixtures should be an advantage but it does not feel like that. Maybe the scenes during the defeat by Burnley will be a line-in-the-sand moment. But what happens if West Ham fall behind against Southampton? It does not bear thinking about in terms of the fans’ reaction. Even with seven games after that, Saturday could be make or break in deciding whether they can survive.

A draw would take them above us if we lose to Liverpool, and they have a game in hand.
