Doubtless another example of cultural enrichment.

Ask around. Lots and lots of people find that kind of purchase vulgar and ostentatious, including people who can afford it. It hasn't suddenly become so this morning. Obviously you're unaware of this.

YES it did he said at time he'd had his Patek Philippe nicked of his arm in soho when out with some mates and now again got to be the unluckiest bloke out there. Originally posted by eritheagle
Did this not happen years ago when he was our chairman? Seem to remember it being reported at the time. Probably only in the news again as he was talking bout it on Talksport yesterday. Edited by Bud (22 Mar 2018 8.59pm)

It really is unnecessary to have that watch and to say it has sentimental value because he bought it when we won promotion is confusing what makes something sentimental imo. A photo, an object from a moment in time, a gift, however cheap is sentimental because there's an emotional memory and meaning attached to it. An expensive watch you went to a shop and slapped the money down for or used or card for is not sentimental. That is just materialism. Whether you think it’s materialism or vulgar, nobody deserves to have a gun pointed at their head taking their old dad to hospital.

It seems the policing minister has the same thought that they're fair game to be chased after.

100 grand watches? that's brilliant!, someone made that watch and made a profit which goes back into the economy, the person who sold it makes a nice bit of commission (not to mention wages) and they have a spend up. It all trickles down, and don't forget SJ paid tax on the money he spent on that watch so that's good too.

A Franck Muller watch sounds like most of the money went to Germany or Austria Possibly all of it if it was custom made.

Poor Simon. He attracts attention with his flash appearance and then wonders why these things happen to him in life. I'm certainly not condoning it, but it's why it happens. I like some of his radio appearances btw. Seen him on The Wright Stuff a couple of times as well and he's mellowed and fatherhood has done him good.
